Looking through the latest Unique Cars, I noticed a photo on page 37 of a McLaren M6 GT at Goodwood, which I think would make a stunning model! For anyone who isn't familiar with it (everyone knows the McLaren F1), this car was first built as a Chevy-powered roadgoing version of the M6 sportscar in 1969. Sadly it was still in development when Bruce McLaren was killed, so only 2 were built. However the one in UC and about 5 others were built up from crashed or obsolete M6 racers using the original body moulds. I guess, despite Bruce's antipodean origins, it isn't a model that Biante are likely to make, but hopefully AutoArt might consider it one day...

Noticed the post about Bruce McLaren in the Longhurst Sierra thread, so thought I'd resurrect this one! Has anyone seen a model of the M6GT in any scale yet? I'll scan a picture if anyone doesn't know what I'm on about.

Hi Nick
I am new to this forum, my first post!!! I have been collecting diecast models for many years, much to my wife's disgust, she thinks I have either an illness or addiction and need professional help!!!
Being a New Zealander, Bruce McLaren is one of my motor racing heros and the McLaren M6B GT Road car is a favourite so I noticed your old post.
The only model of the McLaren M6B GT that I know of is a resin kit model in 1:43 by Provence Moulage of France. This was produced in 2000 if you go to : www.scala43.com/scala43/link/prov/fotosg/pm2006-w.jpg
you will see it. This is a model of Bruce McLaren's M6B GT this actual car is now owned by American Harry Mathews and is in his Mathews Collection museum in Arvada a suburb of Denver, Colorado, USA go to :
www.mathewscollection.com/mclaren/McLaren_M6GT.htm
I understand that this McLaren M6B GT resin kit is now very hard to find and Provence Moulage went out of business in 2004.
It would be great to see this car in a 1:18 how about it Admin? It is a rare car with an interesting storey and it is the first McLaren Supercar.

Wow, that was a bit of forensic work to find that thread! Welcome to the forum! There are 1:18 of Chapparals, Ford GT40s, Lola T70s, Jaguar D types etc etc, but the M6 GT is one of the best looking of all sports racers, and there seems little chance of it being made. A shame. I sometimes wish I only liked popular cars......

I agree Nick, the M6B GT is a fantastic looking road car that is why many replicas and kit cars have been made of this car.
We even had a kit car in New Zealand of the M6B GT called the MARARN made by a company called Fibreglass Developments Ltd. A company called Turnbull Engineering Ltd in New Zealand is now manufacturing a road car called the SAKER SV1 which is the same shape as the M6B GT go to www.saker.co.nz to view this car.
The SAKER SV1 is apparantly capable of 300kmh and weighs 1000 kgs, it has been raced in Europe

Anyone got a spare Euro 395,000 then you can buy what may be a genuine McLaren M6GT Road Car built by Trojan.
Go to
www.racecarsdirect.com/cars/details.asp?id=18784&pt=Car&tp=forsale&cat=1
May be abit overpriced?

Check out the gear shift! Would love to know the shift pattern.

I think it would be a dogleg 1st gear pattern, but tipped on its side. That is a beautiful example, and in McLaren Orange! A 1:18 of that would be very nice indeed......

Nick, Thought you may want to know that there is a 1:43 McLaren M6GT Road car Provence Moulage K1568 Resin Kit currently up for auction on ebay the item no. is 6950924403.
Closes on 19 March'05 when I last looked it had 1 bid for GBP 10.00. The seller is in Dorset in the UK.
I have just purchased 2 of these K1568 resin kits (the last 2 they had) from model shop called Mini Grid Inc. Toronto, Canada cost me CAD $59.00 each plus a huge amount of postage to New Zealand of CAD $39.65 which was a rip off but I wanted these models.
They also had the Provence Moulage resin kit no. K1550 McLaren Chevrolet M6GT Le Mans test 1981 model at CAD $59.00 each which I also purchased. Think they still have some stock left of this K1550 resin kit. Mini Grids website is www.minigrid.com and the contact is Scott Findlay email : sfindlay@minigrid.com

Sadly I'm too hamfisted to be trusted with a decent resin kit, so I'll leave someone else to get glue all over the windscreen etc! One day maybe Exoto will make it, as they seem to be making various sports racers - Porsche 917, Lola T70, Ford GT40 etc.
