Cannot really believe that one. It is afterall still a 1`/18 scale model so even with twice the standard number of parts I think the seller is fishing for suckers !! I would require a scale fully operational engine for that kind of cash !! It would have to be on a par with one of the Gerald Wingrove classics for me to give it serious thought !! It's not 1st April in USA is it ??...

I have bought from this seller before and the faxed receipt sent to me notifying me of the sale was from the Exoto factory - I believe this seller is indeed the manufacturer themselves. The box that my model arrived in had Exoto labels all over it, and it was shipped by UPS for the price indicated on their website (US$35).
Factory or not, it is still a ludicrous price to pay for this model, when it will be readily available for a less-ludicrous US$200-300.

I think maybe it's just an advertisement... That $US9999 figure must be a fanciful one that people aren't really supposed to bid on. I think people that use only eBay as their sole source of advertising find it hard to "spread the word" about coming attractions, as eBay is an auction site, not a noticeboard. Therefore by posting a "fake" auction, they can promote something new.
