Thanks Buffalo.

One really does have to question the logic in this...

CC's have publically stated on several occasions that they do not plan to make the 93,95 and 97 Bathurst winners due to not being able to reuse the tools and get their investment back...then they announce that they will make a model where the tools will definately never get reused???

Does this make sense to anybody? If it does, please explain...

maybe we should convince them to make the Brock Austin A30 as well, don't froget that CC also made the utester, i know it's based on a VX/VU? ute but it does have a lot of changes and those changes won't be used for anything else- strange how they can deem some unprofitable and others profitable

I left the utester out because some of the tooling is reusable...

With the effigy, none of the tooling is reusable...

Nope - doesn;t make much sense to me . The "Efigy" will sell in truckloads and I would imagine huge release numbers for it to thus recoup an investment. I doubt the Elfin Streamliner would sell very well but I;ve been wrong once before. It may be a case of CC wanting to produce models at a loss as a marketing excercise to attract more clients other than the core base it has now ??? Let's not forget also that the associated car companies - ELFIN and or HOLDEN may also be tipping some dollars into the cause as joint venture marketing excercise ??? - just thinking out of the box at the moment ...

To throw another spanner in the works - I understand that Brock is contracted to BIANTE from a sponsorship perspective - therefore it will be interesting to see if BROCK is associated with the CC Elfin model seeing he drove it at Classic Adelaide ???

true but i still would have cost them a fair bit more to change the back the interior and the colour though wouldn't it- but yes you could not make anything else out of the efijy- i have seen it up close at the Brisbane motor show and it looked pretty cool- also got a poster of it too

Although I'm not a fan of the FJ and hot rods aren't my thing at all, this car is as good as it gets in the field of custom hot rods. I think Holden would be mad to not produce it, in the same way Ford did the GT, VW the New Beetle, Chrysler the various Crossfires, Prowlers etc, Lancia the new Stratos, and all the other retro custom cars in the pipeline. No matter how few people in Australia would wnt one (and I still think there'd be a fair few!), America would be a big market for it, especially now. If it could be modified to be built on the VE platform (as VW did with the Beetle, putting it on the Golf chassis) then Holden would be onto a major winner.

Designer
04-11-2006, 02:29 PM
Holden will never build Efigy..it's a one off hotrod built over a Corvette chassis...

Historically, all of Holden's showcars of the last decade or so, have always been designed with production in mind...Holden coupe was a perfect example..which gained enough momentum to become the next gen Monaro.

Even though certain showcars never got the green light for production {Utester and SSX for example}, all have been designed with production intent...

..and that's where Efigy is different. It is purely a Hotrod, a one off showcar, with never any intentions for production.

Never say never, Designer! Far fetched concept and custom cars have been productionised before, and with the response in America it seems silly not to with the Efigy. Jaguar's XJ220 was built by a dedicated "weekend" group within the company, when there was no other way of getting it off the ground, the concept car being radically modified in size, engine and drivetrain for production. Porsche's Boxster concept car was altered quite a bit for production, and this is a company with less money than GM. It's not just about unit sales though, is it - it's about changing the profile of the company, attracting attention, gaining respect and getting people talking.

12-02-2007, 09:15 AM
i wouldn't be surprised to see the price go up on this model as it would be the only car that could be produced from the mould at this stage, and Classics would want to try and make something off the model - mabye that is why the production run has increased, whereas the previous concept cars they have made, they have had the moulds reused somewhat - the Sandman mould would have been used for the SS Ute with the cannopy, and the utester mould would have been modified for the standard SS ute...

I ordered 2 from a store in melbourne and 2 from a store in N.T both stores confirmed my order 2 months ago, today I get told sorry all sold out from both stores (NOT A HAPPY CAMPER)

Also had 2 on order early, but yes supply was cut & I guess it's only fair to cut the people with 2 to share it around as a lot will miss out.
I just upset as I get two cars at time's for my buddy in England "Yes Tony it's Gazza" it was sure hard tellin him that I had my order cut & being the true gent he is there way NO way he would except the one I got.....

Been getting a lot of NO MORE left replys to emails, but thats expected.

Obviously enough for the Racenutz proprietor to attempt slogging one off with a $100 premium, photographed, as usual, grasped in his meaty paw.

At those prices, you'd think he could afford a table and tripod.

Well since my last retailer moved out whoop whoop, I placed a pre-order for this car with a new retailer (BR Models, I think its called), so far no call....not happy, even if they over pre-ordered a call would have been good, Guess they don't want my business.

Br's is where i get my models from, and it is strange of them not to ring you, as i got a SMS saying they had arrived.

When you ordered the model, did you see them in person, or did you ring them up? and when did you order, if you ordered early you would have got one. If so give them a call, and see what is going on.

They said they had a lot of orders that weren't covered by the amount they had ordered from CC (as CC made less, due to them knowing people would double up), maybe they havn't got through their list of people they need to ring?

If i'd ordered a car and didn't here anything about it when it was released i would want to have answers too.

I had a Motorola, that did the same thing as yours too. Had amessage sent to me by familly, but never recieved it. Dunno if it was the phone or the phone Co.
