Hi
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the quality of SunStar is like,as i`m thinking of getting the 1/18 scale Mk2 Ford Escorts that are in transit, but havent seen anything that they have done, so i not sure what they are like with detail, accuracy, etc....

Thanks....

From my experience, fairly limited, (One Mustang I think), they are quite accurate but not in the same league say as Autoart. Not as much attention to fine detail but in my opinion probably worth the money. Especially if they have the only versions of a particular car you want.

Hey Sammy. Saw you at Monsters of Rock with Metallica, Dokken and the Scorpions back in '89. You rock!

My daughter is a big "Back to the Future" fan and has all the BTTF Delorean models. No complaints, but certainly not in the Autoart category, as Billford said, for the money they're not bad value, in the end you get what you pay for I guess.

Consider that the price of their 1/18 are the same as other companies 1/43 and you get some idea. I've had some issues with the base colour coming through the decals but since they were the only people making certain models it was the only way to go. If money is an issue they are fine to get a large collection going quickly and I do believe that their quality is improving.

Quality's definitely on the up, but I will have to see the models in the flesh before I would commit to buying one. I have their Lotus Elise GT1, as that hadn't been modelled by anyone else and I really wanted it (and it's not too bad in all-black, but might have looked cheaper in white or another colour), but my heart always sinks when I see cars I've been waiting for produced by Maisto, Sun Star etc, when the AutoArts and Minchampses of this world seem to have no interest in making them.

From the pictures i've seen and the comments given the Escorts are better quality than their current 1/18 WRC cars

Sammy , I have a few Sunstar models from a few years ago and for the $45-$50 they're not too bad , I have a 1971 Ford Mustang Mk1 and a Porshe 911 GT3R and an '82 Camaro police pursuit car .

I think they are reasonably close to the quality of Ertl(American Muscle), although I haven't any of their later releases I think if their quality has improved then for the money are a good buy especially for the new or young enthusiust or someone who doesn't want to spend a lot to get a good collection together .

Cheers Jim .
