This is the year of the mighty Murph!!!!!
And if Ford have to win it again lets hope it will be Lowndes.

I reckon Lowndesy too , He had great car speed last year so if this year he has a consistantly good ride , some good luck and also with his driving style I'd say he's got a good chance .

I'd like to say Skaife , but I just don't know ... I know he's more than capable and last year he had great car speed and showed promise for this season but luck just hasn't been consistantly on his side , well except for bathurst of course .;)

Must agree that Lowndes would have to be the favourite, but I've gone for a smokey in McConville. If he gells with the team then I think Cam will give a few people a surprise this year. I have a lot of faith in his ability and was very impressed with his results in a GRM Commodore that was obviously off the pace last year.

Lowndesy is going to be a tough one next year, but I hope the red barons get back on top

I would have to say Lowndes, Good Driver, Good Team, Great engineer, Good Engine supplier.. 4 Components of success just needs the luck ......I also reckon T.Kelly is a big chance as well as Tander......Skaife will have to drive a bit smarter, but certainly is capable .......Ingall no chance he was lucky to win last year and with that No 1 on his door he will be a target, and will struggle to beat his new team mate Courtney......Murphy has the goods but not sure his team has.

Time will tell..... I just hope it's good nail biting racing until the last race of the last round........and it's a Holden that wins the Championship and Bathurst

Doubt that will happen, point's setup and reverse grids will take care of a point's runaway by any driver.Any way i have voted for Skaife and do agree that Lowndes will be a serious contender, also like Cameron M and Todler.

with all the reverse grid races, i dont think the champion will win on pace alone.
look back at all the other reverse grid races & back 10-15 seems to be the place to qualify.
could be a dark horse this year.

For me I have to say Lowndes 1st, daylight 2nd.

He's now at the point where everything in his team is stable & so we'd all better look out !!!!

That said I think my sleeper in the pack will be Tander or McConville. Unfortunately I question Murph's consistency & I'm sure if he thinks every track is either Bathurst or Pukie then he'll dominate, but it's not likely.

My surprise of the year will be John Bowe, yes your read correctly, as I think with SBR engines, JB should be able to fight for the odd win or two in the latter 1/2 of the season.

cheers. :)

Love Murphy to win this year [with the Perkins motrs sorted out maybe !!!]
But Lowndes looks like him and the cars and the crew are in the zone !!!
lets hope its all the red army this year Holden 1st and at Bathurst too

Lowndes or Ingall for mine. Murphy is too inconsistant & prone to the "Red Mist". :)

I would like to say Murph but realistically if Lowndes stays out of trouble I don't think anyone else is going to get near him

Rusty to do it again. Second year in a row he has the best looking car too.

Lowndes Going on last years form he will be the one to beat. This will be the year were Lowndes and Skaife will go at it. Old team mates Now Opposition. Bring it on. If i was a driver I would qualify around 10-15 place with the reverse races. but let hope they reward the driver for getting pole. Say with an extra 5 points. This might just make them want that pole Position

Gotta be the Toddler this year. With a little more luck,he would have won it last year I reckon.
If not Todd, then Skaifey is the man.
If any Ford driver is to win,it will be Lowndes, the guy has got too much talent not to get another title soon.
Cheers,
Tony.

The points system and reverse grids will make it harder to pick a winner. I hope Rusty can go back to back and he will go close but my pick is Lowndes.
Todd Kelly will be Holdens biggest threat. If he is given more scope to move at HRT and the car is more reliable, then he will be right in the top 2 or 3 all year. Tander and RKelly will be strong as will CamMc and these guys will all be ahead of Skaife and Murphy.I think Murphy will struggle to finish in the Top 10 now Whincup is at T8 and Courtney is on board at SBR.

Picked Tander.. He showed alot of speed near the end of last year at Tassie and Phillip Island, I think he will give Ford a run for their money..

:D looks like the first sign of being envious of us Holden blokes,I to would like Ford to win at least one to put you supporters out of your misery but not for another 3 years because 10 in a row has a nice ring to it:D

Isn't it funny how none of you note that Ford has won more ATCC titles. Sure Bathurst is the biggest race of the year, but it IS just another race in the campionship these days. You don't get any more points for winning it. In fact any team within a bulls roar of the lead in the championship ( and sorry the red corner has'nt even wimpered for the last few years:D ) WILL sacrifice a win at Bathurst to shore up their position in the title race. Im sure Schuey would rather win Dubai rather than the F1 championship or Collingwood would rather beat Freo than win a Premiership? I think not.:)

Mate for me you can have the championship, Bathurst is the only race that matters, just ask Glen Seton do you think he would swap a championship for a Bathurst you bet he would,

Brock won three championships but he is remember for 9 Bathurst Victories, the way it see it 2005 was a great year

Oh Five
07-03-2006, 07:04 PM
Sorry but bathurst isnt just another race. The first car across the line wins Bathurst and is always remembered.
Last years C/ship, Rusty won the title but lowndes is remembered for more round wins!!!

Back to subject, I think Lowndes will win the C/ship.

My wishlist for 06

1. Id like to see Lowndes win it this year
2. I want DJR to be a force like they once were (well I can dream...)
3. A Ford win on the mountain is LONG overdue
4. And that Ford win is by Seton with SBR (I wish he could of with DJR)

Of that list only the first has a good chance of happening

No, but if Carlton beat Essendon and Collingwood then it's been a satisfying year (I think Essendon and Collingwood supporters would agree, albeit with there team beating the other two!)...:D

No matter where these three teams are on the ladder, games between them are usually very close, and well attended!

Cheers

Unfortunatly for Carlton Elliot's stuffed them. So much debt from paying players like Bradley, Ratten and co, add to that the Legends stand and salary cap rorting. One of the greatest clubs may actually find it hard to stay afloat:mad:

I blame the AFL for the legends stand fiasco...and hence part of the current problem...

The AFL knew they were going to build Docklands stadium and guaranteed other clubs that there would only be 3 Melbourne grounds...but endorsed the Legends stand, and signed the 10 year contract to continue playing at Princess Park...A debt that was unneccessary...

Add to that the $1.5 million per year in maintanence of a field that hardly gets used, the whole situation is ridiculous...

But enough, we will get drawn and quartered if we continue this far off topic;)

Cheers

Getting confused reading this thread  -- is it about Bathurst/AFL or who we are predicting to win the championship???

on topic - I would like to see Todd Kelly for Holden otherwise Lowndes for Ford
off topic - Holden for another Bathurst victory and Skaife/Kelly or Murph/McConville will be good.
off topic - Hawthorn to win otherwise Swans seeing as though I live in Sydney. :)

Why wasn't Steven Richards listed on the poll?

No doubt he would come under 'any other'.

Maybe so, but Richo out qualifies R. Kelly, Bright and Courtney as a Championship winning driver, and is more than equal to the job as Skaife and Murphy.
