For those interested here's the first look at Ambrose's ride, #21 F150 .
And please, if you haven't got something nice to say please refrain form saying anything.
I don't want to start another Ford V Holden thing.
Hope this works.

The word is that Ambrose will be in the #20 entry, currently sitting nicely in tenth in the championship after two races at the hands of Jon Wood. Needs to be in the top 35 after the next race for Marcos to be assured of a start at Martinsville in April 1. Looking good so far.

The photo I submitted early is from the an article in Auto Action 1178, Feb 22-28, 2006. I am only stating it as I read and see it.

How is the reception of Ambrose been taken in the states? Has he been taken seriously or are people just mentioning he is a 2 time Australian V8SCS champion now competing there?

I wasn't having a go at you. Auto Action got it wrong, which is not unusual.

He has some heavy hitters on side, but until he's got some races under his belt the jury is out. A lot of people have faith in him though - they know what he has done.

Yeah the plan is for MA to drive the #20 which is the team mate to the #21 pictured. Thats currently been driven by Stacy Compton although Bobby East will take over at Atlanta because he too is a rookie. The #21 truck is currently 25th in points and needs to be inside the top 35, like the #20, to be guaranteed a starting spot at Martinsville and races going forward.
They may swap them over, but at the moment the plan is for Ambrose to be in the 20, tenth in owner points as I write.

Sadly not, in Last Months Foxtel magazine they responded to a viewers letter with words along the lines of 'no plans at this stage'

Its an F series pick up. Its a truck. Its not, nor will it ever be, a ute. It seems like a minor point but the ute is an Aussie invention and the Americans don't race them, we do. When they start racing Rancheros and El Caminos we can refer to them as utes.

I think that Marcos is well respected for his accomplishments in Australia ,but he is starting a completely different form of racing. He will have have to earn the trust and respect of his fellow competitors. I hope to see him if I can fit the Dover Delaware race into my schedule. It would be nice if Ford would send him up to the All-Ford in Carlisle that same weekend. They race on Friday so he could be there on Sat or Sun. Would love to get a pic of him with my XA coupe.

3 time champion:confused:
I must say, admitedly,I know bugger all about nascar or craftsman trucks. Those trucks sure are strange looking race cars. What sort of speeds do they do?Are they much slower than the actual nascar racers?
As much as I disliked the guy in the V8 series,he is an aussie trying to break into an american dominated sport and I wish him all the best.:)
Cheers,
Tony.

The trucks are pretty damn fast for being what they are. Speeds are probably only down slightly from the cars. Go to nascar.com and check out the qualifying speeds for last weeks race at California as all 3 divisions were present .

Waiting to see how things go. I personally think that he should do pretty well once into the groove. A few uninformed people seem to have written him off before he has started...Probably the same buggers who wrote Nigel Mansell off when he first uttered the words "Indy Car"... :D

Yes thanks for the interview link REDVRSS.The truckseries web site is a good one as it is solely on this series and covers all news and coverage.
As I said in a previous thread, only 27 days and MA gets his first start.
I just finished reading the 'Marcos Ambrose Devil Racer' book that came out about 18 months back and it gives a very honest insight into the guy. Race fans from all sides will get a better idea of his background and will even understand him better.
I look forward to seeing more books on different V8 racers and other drivers in the future.

Well being a Holden and Murph fan I wasnt to keen on Marcos in the V8 series. But With him Flying the Flag for AU in the US I take my hat off to him for having a go.
All goin well I should see him in August at the indy round (Trying to get tickets for the brickyard 400 is almost impossible!)
Nothing better to sit in the stands with a big aussie flag cheering him on!

The truck series doesn't run at Indianapolis motor Speedway(the brick yard) The run at the small track(Indianapolis raceway park I believe is the name) along with the busch cars . Only the cup cars run the big track.

Yep, the trucks run there at IRP on the Friday night. A good little track that, I had a look there in 2002.

Thats the plan, Kenseth, providing my brother who lives in Indy doesnt spoil them for me!
My other Passion is Aircraft, so I plan to see the USAF Thunderbirds at the Indy Airshow on the 27th august :)
Cheers,
Paul.

The best of luck to you Paul. I would tend to think that getting tickets to IRP for the Truck & BGN races would not be impossible. However, for the Nextel Cup at 'The Yard', may be more difficult. The impression I have got for the last several years is that the joint is pretty well sold out 'prior to last years race, for this year' !! (Almost). Never know your luck though, funnier things have happened ! Never been there myself. Been past, meaning to return for a look, (non race period), but plans got kyboshed & boon-doggled !! It would be a downright hoot for a Cup race, I hope you get there & If so, take the video camera so you catch the sounds as well as the sights! If I close my eyes I can still vividly remember the wall of noise & vibrations through the ground last time I was standing in the middle of a track as they were getting up to speed after the Green was waved !! Woo-Hoo !! :)
