Has anyone ordered direct from the Exoto website, as I understand prices of newly released models are considerably lower there, before they go up steeply. And is the saving wiped out by major postage costs?

Nick, stay away from EXOTO for the time being. If you read the US forums, you'll find out that EXOTO is not a reputable company to deal with. I don't want to go into gruesome details, but most likely you'll be charged full price months in advance of actual shipping date provided that the model in question will be shipped at all.

In short dealing directly with EXOTO is an exercise in futility.

Sergey

Ah.....thanks for that, Sergey! I had no idea. I hope they're not going down the pan. Perhaps they won't be able to compete with high quality 1:18s from AutoArt, Spark etc.

Not without improving their customer service anyway! I would never order from them as they seem to be a dogs breakfast of a company. Just look at their release schedules!
Exoto make brilliant models, but everyone is catching up and they might find the going tough if they don't improve their game.

I would like to see some of their future releases actually made, instead of 200 different versions of the Chaparral or Porsche 910 etc, but it does look as though they will have to change tack if AutoArt continues to make models to the standard of the Mazda 787. I think I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for whatever comes out, when it does.....

I got the 1988 Le Mans winning Silk Cut Jag direct through Exoto! I had had no problems item being shipped etc, it was at my door within a week. As for the quality the AutoArt 787B has it covered. I also have the Mercedes Sauber C9 and it can't be faulted, if the Jag is anything to go by Exoto's quality has gone downhill in a big way.

funny you should mention this today Nick as yesterday I priced getting a FW14B from Exoto as they have a $50 off sale which finishes on the 31/5/06.

Turns out that with the discount voucher the car would cost (are you sitting down) $377 ($440 without it) Australian

There are plenty available for a lot less than this on eBay

Myself and a mate ordered a 1/10 1966 GT40 each directly over the web. Mine turned up within a couple months but his took two years!!! And a huge number of emails from him chasing it.

I have ordered 5 or 6 of their 1:18's directly over the last 3-4 years and never had a problem.
