As i was only 5 when Dick won bathurst in '81 i would love to see the race as all i can remember is the big crash at the top of the mountain.

I'm very interested Jamie.

I started taping most Bathurst races from 1984, but would be keen on getting copies of 1980, 1981, and particularly 1982.

We've got a contributor in Andrew for whom I'm currently copying 1990 to 1992 ATCC and Bathurst races as he's a GT-R addict.

Does anyone have a copy of the 1978 race, particularly qualifying? Moffat drove the Cobra so hard he couldn't speak afterwards, and that lap footage would be gold dust to me! I've seen it once, but there are no retail videos with it on.

Nick, that's going to be a difficult task.

I remember when my brother purchased a top loading cord remote VCR in 1981 and it cost around $900.00 way back then.
And that was when VHS and BETA were an each way bet !!

I doubt if the VCR was a retail known back in 1978, so you might need to chase Sydney's Channel Seven, or the ATLAB Australia organisation if it still exists.

I think it was Channel 7 who wanted $150 per hour of unedited footage, or some figure like that, when Mark Pividor of the Falcon Cobra Club asked them some time ago.....

FOR THESE YRS.QUALITY GOOD,NOT "ALL" RACE BUT START/FINISH AND ALL HIGHLITES IN BETWEEN. TAPE IS 3 HR.ea
HAD BIG RESPONSE AFTER THESE BUT I WILL HAVE TO WORK OUT HOW TO COPPY SO MANY------ANY IDEAS?(IN 1982 I WAS 30)
THERE WERE EVEN "NISSANS" THEN.... BLUEBIRDS(TURBO)

For the record, I have every year including 1986 to 2002
on video. Only dodgy ones are 1988 (when the Olympics were on and the telecast was interupted), and 1996 when my Mum taped it and their TV reception was poor.
1986 tapes are starting to deteriorate a bit, I'd love to put them all on DVD's!!!!
Other than that, they're all in quite good nick.

Jamie is a great guy, but if he can't help with all the Bathurst tapes you might be after, I know of another touring car fan who has full Bathurst race tapes from 1980 to the present.

I did find a 16mm film of Brabham/Repco and had that converted to Video and 30 copies made about 5 years ago the cost worked out to $10 a tape!!
So..... get the orders and the $ then get it copied.

Looking for any full Bathurst videos before 1984, have got every race since 1984 inc both 1997 and 1998 races, full race plus an hour or so of pre-race plus post-race in most cases. Some of the early ones have a few skips but are mostly good quality.
