Hi everyone I dont know too much about the status of WRC, I heard there is problems with it is that correct? I also hear that a lot of manufacturers are pulling out is that also correct? What is wrong with Subaru?? I heard they are the only team backed by a manufacturer and their losing against private teams? Are their Pirelli tyres worse than Michelin? Anyways please let me know thanks!

Not sure about all the details, but their Pirellis are nothing agaist the BF Goodrich tyres on the Citroens and Fords.

Pirelli's don't match the BFG (as such are pulling out at the end of the yr- w/ only Subaru as a factory user not worth it) Citroen and Pug pulled out at the end of 05- Citroen running Xsaras under Kronos w/ intention to return in 07 running the C4; Pug gone- cars all sold now privateer based teams lead by OMV Peugeot; Mitsubishi and Skoda gone possibly to return next yr; Red Bull Skoda privateer Skoda team; Suzuki maybe coming into the fray.

The 06 Subaru has been dogged by problem; from poor aero to engine troubles; turbo troubles; suspension troubles.....apparently the car wasn't handling at all well so Solberg took an engineer on a test run; when the car flew over a jump and continued in the air the steering became light for landing and the car didn't do at all well........engineer looked at Solberg- "is that what the rally is like?" Seems they didn't figure on the jumps in rally and didn't design the electronics to cope....basically a disaster from start to finish- Solberg has gone through about 4 gear levers this season already- all with the same breakage problems.......need any more detail? Painful for me as a Subaru fan to discuss

Ford is also a full works effort (well the A team is). The Stobart Team is supposedly privateer (don't know how a privateer team running year old cars qualifies for manufacturer points when that manufacturer has a full team in the championship - but thats another issue).

By all accounts Kronos is a privateer team in name only as the only time their mechanics touch the cars is on the rallies.

Suzuki are planning a full attack on the WRC for next year or 08. Speaking of next year there is bad news for you Aussies in the first calendar released after the July 5 Rally commision meeting. But its OK cos Rally NZ is still there.

Plus the car looks to have been designed more as a tarmac car than gravel. Now being nicknamed 'The Bulldozer' on other forums. Look at any photo of a gravel corner and the car that is digging it's nose in the dirt most is the Subie.

Subaru have been a joke in the WRC for a while. Petter was bloody lucky to win the 2003 title and things have gone downhill since then.

I think the tyres are a big problem for subaru.
Petter is a great driver......

Tyres are a huge problem; thankfully Pirelli are leaving; they haven't had any pace on dry tarmac since 1998 the cars have been struggling for grip for yrs now and it was only the car's pace on gravel and the success of pirelli in the UK that kept Subaru at the pointy end; now that the Tyres are worse than ever and the car is a nightmare in all aspects the partnership has fallen apart

Petter is a great driver......

Have to agree. The guy is an absolute gun and deserves a car worthy of his talent. A little like Raikkonen in f1.

Only because Citroen held Loeb back to protect the manufacturers title.
My opinion anyway.

Partially- moreso because Burns developed a Brain tumour and couldn't compete in GB and obviously wasn't right in San Remo
