View Full Version : Personal Attacks from behind a Keyboard/username

I find the levels of Personal Attacks from behind a Keyboard/username in Forums in general extremely distasteful, especially those on the Staff of Biante:mad: . It is by Biante's good grace that we use this Forum at all. It costs money to Host a Website which contains the provision of a Forum.
No, I'm not on the Biante payroll
Asking a question on a public forum is not always going to receive a response. Whenever I've contacted Biante either by email or phone & asked to speak to Trevor (the late), Bev, Richard, Nathan or the office staff, I always received a response.
Not always straight away as sometimes the question required research, or the one I hoped for, though sometimes I receive a lengthy discussion, or an email.
Given that some of the people I've named have extemely busy schedules, that speaks volumes for their committment to Customer Service.
Australia is serviced by 3 companies that manufacture Diecast Models.
Biante is one of the Companies that make Diecast Models for this relatively small market.
Yes, not all models produced by Biante are 100% correct, neither are those made by the other manufacturers, but at least we have a manufacturer that is trying to raise the bar. If you take a look at the oppositions product, they are pretty good. But, I ask the question, would they be as good as they are if there was not the competition from Biante?
I have many Biante models in my collection, some are excellent, most are very good & a few (very few) have been sub-par.
We as consumer are entitled to expect the highest quality Diecast Models that our money will pay for. If you are not satisfied with the product DON'T BUY IT!
I will continue to buy the Biante Product as long as they continue to live up to my expectations, which I believe they will

Ken,
I have only ever emailed Biante in regard to one problem with their models. We bought a Rossi 1:6 motor bike and unfortunately left it in the box for quite some time. When I finally went to display the model there was no stand in the box. Biante was notified by email and I have even offered to buy a replacement stand as it is not their fault I didn't check the box when it first arrived.
Several emails have been sent (to Nathan) and to date there has been no reply. That is frustrating and up until now I have refrained from using these forums as a tool to criticise Biante. We are fast running out of options and having remained loyal to Biante for some years, feel somewhat let down.
As in any form of business you can not please everyone all of the time and there will always be those to find fault in anything and everything. Overall I think we are very lucky that Biante have gone to so much trouble in not only giving us access to some great models but also that they operate and maintain an excellent web site.

well said, the mud slinging really detracts from the great experience of being part of this forum. As said contact them direct their number is easy to find and they are easy to get a hold of instead of trying to publicly shame and humiliate and berate them.
As for personal attacks on each other, it is good to jibe humourously but when it becomes personal, rude or insulting then a line has been crossed. Considering most of us do not really know eaach other other than the comments and thoughts we share it would be wrong grossly to hurl personal insults.
Simply if we do not like what someone else has said we have the right to disagree but not to attack. How about we remain gentleman and ladies on this forum instead of schoolyard brawlers. For most of us these suggestions do not really apply as most I have come across on here are genuinely nice people but there are a few rogue cowboys that seem to need some reigning in.......
Better go I have a soap box derby to prepare for...:>:>

Hey Toddy,
This is the second or third time you've mentioned a second gender on this forum. Last time we did a survey, it was only Bev...are you aware of any other lady folk atm?

Wasn't there a Jess or Jessie....I am just making sure I do not assume this is a men's only club, maybe some of the women could identify themselves....

Well said Ken (singer),some of the posts of late have been on the nose and quite unecessary.
The most disappointing thing is that the ones whinging about not getting answers (and being downright rude in the process) don't even have the decency (or balls me thinks) to acknowledge Richards' reply
'Thank you' is obviously too hard to say, says a lot about the attitude and values in todays society.:(
Cheers,
Tony.

Amen to that!
The release in question does deserve to be left on the shelf. And it has taken quite a bit of agro on the forum for Biante to admit that there was an error. But we still haven't been told about why it happened or what will be done about it.
It's interesting that you mentioned that the forum was the incorrect area to raise issues. I would have thought that it would be the first place you'd use given the sheer number of collectors who use it to stay informed about which models to buy and which ones to avoid.
The forum is an amazing feedback tool for the company and I bet they pay close attention to the goings on here.

Whil'st this model may have a factory error, there are a lot of buyers on eBay wishing that they could find 1 of the 3000 models "on the shelf"
Just my thoughts.

1370, I think there are two issues here...
IMO, the forum is where we discuss issues such as the Goss spoiler, and from time to time we may get a staff member from Biante contribute...questions can be posed to Biante, but my experience on the forum suggests that they are not frequently answered...
IMO the forum is definately not the place to demand answers if a question has been put forward and remains unanswered...that should be taken offline, either via email, PM or phone call.

Where did I say that?
If you're referring to my statement, "Asking a question on a public forum is not always going to receive a response.". It is a fact. The forum moderators & Biante Staff will not always respond to questions, especially when they are framed in the form of a perceived attack. :(
I beleive that the forum is the correct place to raise issues, especially those involving quality, what cars we want made, as well as other issues regarding our hobby ie which direction we as collectors would prefer to go, etc.

True...but sometimes if its a Q on many peoples mind....IMO the forum at times is the best place to have it answered once and for all that either kills the issue or at least conveys the same message to all and saves being hassled by multiple phone calls, e-mails etc from "irate/irrational' individuals which p****s*off all parties unnecessarily.

I do not disagree...but it is up to Biante how they want to respond...no amount of abuse from on the forum is going to change that position...
Maybe after the 200th phone call they might dec ide to make a public statement?

Given that there is often a huge quantity of traffic on the forum, it would be unreasonable to expect anyone on the Biante team to do more that cursory monitoring of what is going on and then most likely only the threads they are interested in. While the forum is great for a large number of people to share ideas, if you want to contact the company then use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page. Certainly quality issues should be aired here but answers should be directed to the company themselves.
However they do have 'real' jobs so don't be surprised if you don't get a reply for a while. I'm still waiting on one from over 6 months ago but I won't lose sleep if I never get it.

I agree that some of the posts of late have been a bit like a couple of Ladies with there handbags swinging at each other but it is also a great way for all of us to learn things about our great hobbie (addiction?)
But lets remember that Biante provides this forum at there own expense and after reading some of the attacks of late you would not blame them for deciding enough was enough and shutting the forum down.
Nothing is perfect and people do make mistakes from time to time and when you consider the amount of awesome models we get and the few mistakes that are made i reckon we are doing ok. And those who demand to know the what why and hows of everything should take a good look at themselves.
Biante you do a fantastic job and most of us really appreciate it.
Cheers
