Gee Glen,
They are a very small run with only 1440 pcs ( Webber )
Everyone had better keep their eye's open and on the lookout for this one when it hits our shores.

Problem is Grubby we will no doubt be last in the distribution queue. I am not going to risk it and have ordered one from the UK and North America just in case. Hopefully Biante may have been able to convince Minichamps to do a Special Australian Edition and this will come out seperate to the standard run of 1440 pcs
We will just have to be the mushrooms as usual and wait and see.

Minichamps have always had wierd limited number configurations, they used to do a lot ending in 9 loike 1009.
Glenn
Just got my Alan Jones 1979"bin laden" 1/43 from minichamps.
Do minichamps take pre-orders?
If such a small run is made we mightn't get many and I remember earlyer in the year it was said that Biante would make a Webber car but admin said it would cost too much with the tooling etc.
It sounds like a better idea for minichamps to make a run of Webber AGP 2002 cars for Aus only so this might be a Biante/Minichamps dual job again(Biante got minichamps to make the Johnson/Bowe 89 Bathurst winner).

There was also a 1/43 ,500 only run, of the POZ cola ferrari F355 F1 (that I missed out on:mad: )
Even If they used an other car ,I.E. Benetton or even the Prost )
like they have done with the Toyota in both 1/43 and 1/18 to give us the opportunity to be able to have this car.
It will look stunning in the Black red and yellow etc colours.
Can you still buy Bowe POZ Cola F355's somewere?

Michael Schumacher actualy drove a Minardi,I think actualy all 3,
Last fryday in Italy and did 100 laps in the cars. It is stated that he realy enjoyed himself
So,,,,,, now that the best driver/modelsalesperson has driven and linked with this F1 outfit ,the 1/18 model should/will be VERY wanted
I looked through my cars and the jordan or the Jaguar could be easily made into an acceptable Minardi PS2 as the front spoiler is distinctive . It looks like the Jaguar is the closest in my book and a pity that this is made by coldwheels. It has the frontspoiler somewhere same and the rear of the car with the smokestacks and winglets are also looking similar, plus the front nosecone has the same look to it as well.
All I need is a set of decals

Why would Shuey drive a Minardi ??
Was this a test drive before he buys the team for himself ?
I know Stoddard has said the team is for sale if someone has the money to pay out all of its' debit.
The mind boggles !!!
on a second note, are there still plans for an Australian release of the Webber car ??
Grubby

Someone told Shuey that Webber really could drive.
So Shuey thought he would see what sort of laps times he could do and compare them to Webber's times.
Maybe he's scared of some competition.

He did 100 laps of Fiorano in a Minardi 2 seater taking friends (and I assume sponsors) for joy rides.

Hey Grubby,
do you know what sort of times he did ?
How close was webber's times to the Shue ?
cheers.

Sorry I was only mucking about.
From what I can gather there was no timing or if there was I don't think it has been released.
Even with the laps being done in the 2 seater it would e interseting to see some time sheets and compare them to Webbers times in the promo car ( 2 seater )

Grubby,
The post of the cars being 2 seater poped up as I was typing in my bit & so thats why my posts looks weird. Even though they were driving with passengers, it would be interesting to see what the 'flying' lap times were. I know Webber can drive & it would be interesting to see how he compared in simular machinary to a 5 times world champ.
I know the size & weight of a passenger could make a dramatic difference (as well as fuel loads) but wouldn't it be interesting viewing ?

I am sure that Webber has done laps in the 2 seater.
I bet there was someone hidden somewhere taking down times.
It would be nice if we got to see the comparisons. Interesting at the least. The comparisons of the 2 seater would probably be a good indication.

Fiorano is Ferrari's private test track so I doubt that a) Webber has driven there and b) even if he has, I doubt it would have been in the two seater so comparing times would be of no use.
Anyone interested in going for a ride in the Minardi 2 seaters (they have three) can purchase rides at auction. One UK business man based in Monaco bought a ride with Nigel Mansell who then proceeded to crash into another car in the 'race' that they have. Rather than be a bit shook up he was glad it happened because it made the whole GP experience even better and he vowed to win the auction the next time so that he can have another go.

If my memory serves me correct, the man that Richard is talking about who had his ride with Mansel in 2001 (at Silverstone), had another ride this year.
This time it was with Mark Webber and he also crashed (I think he put the car in the kitty litter).
Some people are just not ment for Formula 1 !!!!!!

I seem to remember Mark had a lot of good things to say about Michael on RPM earlier this year. I remember seeing them both having a good old yak and a laugh. Maybe Michael is not the arrigant person many seem to think he is.

Michael Schumacher is one of the nichest people you can meet off the track!
He does not stands fools very well and has got an amazing presence.

FF yes I do believe that. People only see the dedicated driver who is ultra focused and think he is arrigant, a stuck up d!ck.

I was reading in todays' Auto Action that Shuey was giving some of his friends a ride in a specially painted Red 2 seater doing aprox 100 laps (Richard also said this earlier in the week)
ALSO,
On tonights news (9 Melbourne) it was said that Paul Stoddard has been forced to sell his European Airlines and the future of the race team is again in doubt. No reasons were given, however it was suggested that he couldn't afford to run the planes as well as coap with the down turn in business as a result of 9/11.
I just hope Webber has signed that Jaguar contract.

You guys would probably go nuts, but here in the US one vendor has marked down Webber's launch car to just 10US!!!
If you don't believe me, check this link:
http://www.replicarz.com/ and do a search for "webber" or simply browse " 1:43 scale race blowout section"

Berkut,
Thanks for the tip, I just ordered mine. It's nice to see VT has something besides Maple Syrup and Microbreweries.

Sergey - many thanks for the tip on behalf of your fellow collectors downunder.
Doesn't it seem ridiculous that collectors in one part of the world are crying out for a particular model yet on the other side of the world a retailer is selling the same item for 1/3 of its retail price because he can't sell his stock !
At US$10 it has to be worth buying a few of these and throwing them in the back of a cupboard for a few years. Who knows what Webber might be able to accomplish in time (and accordingly what this model might fetch in the future).
PS Note to Richard - why don't you contact Replicarz and offer to buy their remain stock then put it on the Biante website ?

Well this model is very nice and well worth the retailprice. $56.95 Aus.
I do have one (Lucky) and treasure it in my collection of Australian participants in F1, never mind that this team is owned by a true blue motorsportfan/enthusiast, and F1 in particular,
Australian . Mr. Stoddart should be more popular than this ,rammed, every day by the media, down our throat, has been runner . every time I hear her jibbering on ,I switch off. Never any news about him, but every fart is reported verbatum it seems, that comes from the runners corner.
Look at the following in other countries of drivers and teams
here in Aus we must be very spoiled for sure.
These models should have been snapped up just here in Aus!!

For those of you wanting to start a 'Mark Webber Collection' here is a U.S. retailer with Mark's 1998 Mercedes CLK GTR sportscar in 1/43 from Maisto. Its not up to Minichamps standards but for only A$ 30 is ok for the money.

Absolute bargain that is . I paid Aus$53.oo for it here in Aus and I am NOT complaining.
To see that these models all over the world are already discounted is a good indication why we are not seeing the 1/18 minardi ,Sic.
there are some decals out by Tamiya in an as yet undisclosed scale and this will be the only way to make the rendition of this ,by me, very desired model.
The lack of any info on the F1 scene here in aus is very sad.

For anyone still looking for the Webber Minardi you can get them from Toronto Motorsport for $ 45 Canadian (approx A$ 51) plus shipping.
