Bernie Ecculstone is changing a few things in F1 next year.
*banning team orders
*changing the points system
1st=10 points
2nd=8 points
3rd=6points
4th=5 points
5th=4 points
6th=3 points
7th=2 points
8th=1 point
*only 1 flying lap in qualifying
Team owners and drivers did not want Michel Schumacher weighed down but there will be something done to Michel if his dominance continues,hopefully AVESCO might crack down on TWR's dominance of V8 supercars.

hmmm, success ballast could be a good thing for V8's. It seems to have worked well enough in the German and British touring car championships. Maybe give the top 5 cars from each round extra weight for the next round, say 30kgs for winner, 25kgs for 2nd, 20kgs for 3rd, etc.

As to the new F1 rules they should hopefully make things a bit more interesting. I like the single lap qualifying idea, maybe a Minardi driver can do a Sam Newman and put a Minardi on poll by qualifying in the dry while all others have a wet track.....

At least we 'should' get better TV coverage of F1 next year.....

With all of these change, F1 will just become another open wheeler catergory (- borring!!!!!!!) !!!

Why is it when Ferrari wins, everyone makes a big noise. What about when Senna & Prost won 15 out of 16 races in a year & the various drivers that also did it in the Williams ? - nothing happened !

And it shouldn't happen now!!!

Formula 1 has always been a technological formula, where to win you must out design as well as out drive the competition.

Look what has happened to CART, it is a parity formula and now we see small fields of 18 cars (there used to be 32 cars, manfactured, etc .....)

Is this the parth we want F1 to follow, I certantly do not!!!

Someone will beat Ferrari in the not too distant future, just just have to do a better job of it. Its' happened before and it will happen again, until then why steel away the glory from Ferrari as they have certantly earnt it.

Cheers.

The problem with success balast in V8's is that everyone will be
sandbagging the round before Bathurst to ensure no penalty
for the Great Race!!!

Heres a story on the new F1 rules from Wednesdays Daily Telegraph-
Formula One chiefs fiddle with the rules
Formula one fudged and fiddled with its rules yesterday but decided against any radical changes aimed at trying to break Ferrari/Micheal Schumacher grip on the sport.
Instead small but significant changes were announced,to be introduced whwn the 2003 season opens at Melbourne in March.
There will be 2 qualifying sesions instead of 1,with cars having the track to themselves to set a fast time,areorginised points system and a voluntry cutback in testing while team orders have been banned.
But there will be no handicapping of the fastest drivers-a plan that had been floating recently.
With Webber with Minardi,Briscoe with Toyota and Courtney with Jaguar a 4th Aussie tester might be on the way,Veitnamee-Aussie Rob Nygyen is currently trying to get a test drive.
Also some more good model idea,Courtney Jaguar test car and Ryan Briscoe Toyota test car.
