Just gone into production.:D

Been waiting for this car since I started collecting. IMO will be the best looking XY of the lot. Wild Violet is an outstanding colour and with signage will look superb. Wander how many there will be?

Great looking car...love the colour and the amount of advertising on this car...my only problem with this..and it shouldn't be... but I have become wary of purchasing any XW's or XY's of late...to me it may be one of those models that may well get duplicated down the track and I just can't afford to see my purchase $$$ halved...

I don't like the duplication prospect either, but that signed cert makes all the difference to IMO. It's funny isn't it, i've bought and sold CC cars and the quality is very good but they just don't do it for me for some reason. I've always thought it was the Signature, they give the cars a more personal feel. Even more so with sad recent events.

Thats exactly how I feel as the 79 a9x COA is the only thing I have signed by PB and I will cherish it forever ;)

I agree, the signatures add that something extra to the model......but in my view it depends on the car, was it a winner and on the driver for its value to be retained once duplicated...all worthy drivers who raced at Bathurst so i'm not belittling anyone not in this list, but the top tier are Moffat, Johnson and Brock...and hence IMO the sig wont help retain value when it gets duplicated....as proven by the 65E Moffat prices which practically halved upon news the CC version was being released....to us on this forum, we are aware of the value of the signed cars....but we don't constitute the majority of collectors with this view...most don't care, for others its "I want it now for as few $$ as possible"....and only jump on the bandwagon upon exceptional circumstances (as exemplified recently)… but then we have seen anything being flogged off with some serious $$ without signatures which to me shows the sophistication of the average collector not researching or understanding their hobby

A personal signed certificate is just that!
A personally signed, (endorsed?) product
It was actualy signed by the person , who took the time to add his personal touch to it.
Signed models are not my cuppa tea, but the signed certificate is.

IMO all models are endorsed, whether it be personally by the driver or by the manufacturer.

Certificates in general dont phase me, its more the actual model I look forward to displaying. I've seen several collections where the certificates are displayed behind the cars. Each to there own:)

....we are aware of the value of the signed cars....

Extract from my previous post....was implying cars with certificates...not cars with signatures on em....apologies for any confusion

I was born just 6 days after this event took place, but for myself this is the Bathurst podium placings that i've been waiting to collect. The cream of the quintessential Aussie muscle car. The year that was, and what might of been. I can only envy those who were lucky enough to have witnessed this first hand. In most cases a signed coa would not be my deciding factor in buying a model, but on reflection and in this case, I'am very happy that Peter, John, and Doug (and Damon) have all taken the time to personaly add their touch. While we patiently wait for the Phase IV to adorn our collections, I can only hope that one day we too may see the XU-1 & Charger V8's that rounds out this scene and come to life in our cabinets. Thank you Biante, Classics and Mr Oastler.

Long Live 1972....

I absolutly love the Wild Violet, have been tempted many times to buy the Road going one with the White interior, but the French car is finally in my hands and it's very striking, a real looker. Everything opens and closes as it should do and no QC problems too speak of, very happy, thanks Biante :)

Cheers,
Chris

Any new tooling or improvements on this model compared to previous releases?

Nick Short

I don't know if it's my eyes, but the wheels and tyres (or perhaps just the tyres) look too big and clompy, like drag car tyres, or a kid wearing his parent's shoes....It's no different from any of the other XYs, so either it's a measuring error or my eyes are shot.

Chriso

No new improvements at all that I can see, same same.

The area the that always stands out to me is the shaker, the back ends too low, on my Moffat about 2mm under the bonnet, alittle better on the French, but not much (see pic). Just a pity as my eyes are always naturaly drawn to that part being the Icon of the car. Still waiting for my 65e CC to come in but from pics i've seen the shaker seems okay. Was looking at the shots of the fly-mesh on Superfalcon, looks to me like it should be a little higher at the front, hopefully its just the prototype.

With the extra details of the new Classics a few may think, nah i'll pass on the Frenchy, but from a historic point shes was a must have, the colour is lovely, and being the million dollar HO, adds a little mystique. If Classics make it at a later date, so be it, this little duck won't be crying over spilt milk. Just waiting for the Yellow Glow/Superfalcon now, the best looking roadie/racer of them all, fan-bloody-tastic!! That should finish off the XY's I'm wanting, just in time for the onslaught of the early Commodores...I hope.

Haven't received my example as yet so unable to provide any feedback... I have mod'd all of my XY shakers so they sit with the back raised further & shaker more 'level'. It is a pretty easy fix to carry out. Also tend to 're-jig' my screen washer bottles a fraction too! Otherwise usually extremely satisfied with the biante XY releases apart from hoping for an update to the front & rear bumper bars sometime, to include the correct number plate recesses & 'cutouts' in the bars......
