Mark Webber has just been confirmed by Nicky Lauda as the new driver for the Ford/Jaguarbranded F1 raceteam.
We will see an 1/18 model of Webber after all!!!:D
Eddy Irvine was set aside as well as P. de la Rosa
E Irvine earned Ford Jaguar 8 worldchampionship points ,which would more than pay for all his salary in the last 3 years and saved some face of this outfit.
Eddy will ,in my book, end up at Jordan if the other eddy has any sense.
Who if any will drive for Minardi other than Jos Verstappen?

Russian, who goes by the name of Zlobin will drive for Minardi next year. The presence of Russian driver was the primary condition set by the new main sponsor of Minardi, the Russian oil giant, Gazprom.

Minardi would welcome Webber back if Jaguar suddenly sack Webber mid season but theres a very slight chance of that happening.
I'm suprised De la Rosa got sacked with 1yr left on his contract and Irvine going to Jordan.
Webber and Pizzoria both out did Irvine and De la rosa during testing mid this year.
Expect some Hot Wheels Webber Jags next year, now Webber drives for Ford so now he might do Bathurst 2003,he said he wishes of doing that and that he'll try get the Bathurst weekend off at Jaguar-he said it during one of his chat room sessions this year.

I hear that Webber has signed a 2 year contract.
With all of the praise that Jaguar has had for Webber over the past 12 months he would have to make an absolute fool of himself & destroy several cars, etc....., to be shown the door.
The one who i think should be worried shoud be James Courtney. I hear he was delisted by the Jaguar F3 team and now has no drive for 2003.
At least with Jaguar signing to young (cheep $$$$) drivers, they should be able to spend more $$$ on their race cars - wasn't that the motivation behind getting rid of Irving, as he was simply too expensive!!!! Not to mention his less than faviouring comments about the Jag.
Go Webber !!!!!

James Courtney was used up by Jaguar!
They let him do a testdrive in Italy to sort out a problem and the car broke sending James in to the barriers at frigtning speed .
He got hurt and could not compete in the series he was leading in for several races. as the competition is fierce in this series it made it inpossible for him to fight back to the top.
It also must have knocked his confidence for a while and now he is discarded! Disgracefull in my book
Lauda should try to look in the mirror(not a pretty picture)

too right,
James was not given a fair shot, but thats' motorsport for you - your remembered for your last performance/ championship position!!!!

I for one, hope that Webber is given his best chance of succeeding with the Jag. It would surely be a great marketing coop for Webber to do well in the Jag, seeing that they are trying to make a name (again) for themselfs in Australia.

However, I just hope too much pressure is not thrust upon him, seeing that he has been named the lead driver for the team.

With all of the changes happening in F1, it just makes getting to Melbourne to see the race just that little bit more important.

Cheers.

So does this mean that Mark will have to hand back his Benz ????
I know what i would rather drive and it isn't the Jag.
I wonder if they will give him 2 Jags seeing that one is always in the workshop, going on their past history ?????
