I received Biante's newsletter yesterday regarding the expected arrival next week of several items of interest - thanks !

Keeping track of these items however is not easy (without writing down the model numbers somewhere) and I thought it would be great if collectors were able to set up a watchlist of 5, 10 or even 20 models on the Biante site in the same way you can watch certain auctions on Ebay or Sold.com .

The 'watchlist' would also give Biante more idea of the demand for various items by seeing how many people are watching a particular item prior to its release.

Yep!!! Great idea..
Been thinking about this for a while myself...
I know absolutely Zilch about such matters, so I don't know how easy (or otherwise) it would be to set up, but I reckon it would be great if it could be implemented..

How about it admin???

I would have thought that a proper advance order pre-paid system would be better, many online sites around the world operate this way keeping the clients informed and happy as they can pre-order a model up to 3 months in advance and not have to worry about the tracking of the delivery date, the order is secured with a CC. The customer is billed at time of car being sent. Some of the better sites even offer 10% discount off of the purchase price for all pre-orders. It works elsewere so why not here on this site.

looking in the 'Find a Model ' section theres a new section called

"In Transit" (as stated in newsletter ) would this be sort of what you
are looking for it covers everything that is coming not just the aussie cars .

i seem to remember reading somwhere that in transit meant about 1,2 weeks away , having a quick look it saves a lot of looking thru the whole site ...........:D

It seems like a good idea on paper..only thing wrong is that in Australia it is against the law to charge a credit card without supplying the goods.
If we take pre-orders and charge when the goods arrive, we have the usual problem of expired cards, no funds, changed emails, etc. It is a nightmare to put right and we have got better things to do.
I think as a supplier, looking after 300 shops and 420 car dealerships, we have enough to do now. The new "In Transit" button will advise what's within 14 days of arrival. The newsletters fine tune it down to within 5 days of going on the site.
After that, I am afraid it's up to you.
Hell, we even get abused by people for not getting their newsletter to them, even though they have changed their email address!! Huh??

Admin,
The new "availability watchlist" is a major addition to your website.

I have just added 67 to my watchlist.

A few enhancements could be:
Include the scale.
A $ total of your watchlist... This could really upset us :)

I think the inclusion of the scale would be great as it will allow you to check that you have included the correct scale.
At present it doesn't tell you what scale you have included.

I just put the cars that I am interested on my watchlist but the one that I do not want to miss out on the 1978 Brock/Richards A9X seems to be missing.
When will the A9X be back on the Production Planned List.

A great inclusion to make it easier on us collectors to keep a track of what we want or would like to get,,.... but I'm curious Admin,, why is it that models that have SOLD OUT still have Add to Availability Watchlist on them yet models that are *Temporarily Out of Stock do not have the facility... is'nt it abit double dutch..??

Anyhow great job..

All the "Temp out of stock" on my site show the Watchlist facilty.
It may be an auto countdown item with an asterisk in front??
Otherwise I cant duplicate what you're saying.

Thanks Admin.. just a couple I have noticed are the 1/64 LJ Purr Pull and 1/64 Brock 28c.... They as you say have an asterisk in front on it... so if that's what you mean....

Its something we need to look at, but we wanted to put it on the site today.
What happens, is because its an item with finite stock, we put it on auto countdown. Which means it can run out, but still be featured in "Just Arrived" and shown as 'Limited stock', but has in fact run out.
We will go in each morning and change the status, so its a short term thing which we will have sorted soon.
If you look at them both now, it should be OK.

This is a pretty good feature and will save looking at the In Transit list frequently.

Lucien - can you widen the column of the description as it is hard to read when you have alot of cars on the list with the long descriptions???

Nice addition to the site. I have one question that either Admin or some one with a bit of computer knowledge may be able to answer.

I have 2 email addresses, one work and one home. I am not allowed to setup the work computer to receive my bigpond emails and my work takes me away from home 3 out of the 6 weeks (don't want to miss out on the latest). Therefore, how can I get the messages sent to me on both addresses without signing up again in the Biante's collectors club? That is, can Biante send the email to both addresses simultaneuolsy?

Paull, I'm with bigpond broadband adsl, and on the telstra website they have a thing called webmail. I can check my bigpond mail from any computer in the world. You just go to the webmail link, type in your email address and password for your account, and you can check your mail there. You don't have to set anything up at all. Check it out.

Just received an email advising an item on my watchlist is now in stock, how good is that. Shouldn't miss any releases now!

Just been busy adding to my wtchlist & while it would be good to have a guessamit of the value of the product in question, I think I would rather not know just how much in $$$'s the models are that I want.

Great feature admin.

cheers. :D

A quote from the latset newsletter about the ANZ Sierra

Judging by the numbers of people that have added this model to their 'Watchlist' there is sure to be a rush on this model it looks like a hit before it has even been released.

To help Biante staff, would it be feasible to put a tick box of the type "Where do you intend to purchase this model?"

I say this because the newletter implies that the website will sell out fast (rush on the model) etc. This may not be the case, depending on where people actually intend on buying the model.

All items I have on the watchlist, I have on order through my local retail outlet, so I'll never rush, as it will be sitting at the shop waiting...and many others are probably in the same boat!

Good to see members are making use of the 'watch list'.
We don't really care where you get them..its a service not a demand to buy from the site.

***** Just one thing....dont forget, when you buy the model concerned, you kill off the 'watch' on it or you will get emails everytime it changes status.

The switched on stores and dealers now also have their own Dealer site, so they can check availability instantly on any item you may be after.
For example all the new items from Autoart and Minichamps are already on the dealer site as its quicker to upload than the website with pictures etc.

There are some old favourites on there from ages ago, so another worthwhile service to the members and collectors (and stores).

Thanks for the reply Trevor, I'm sure over time a trend will develop anyway...i.e. there'll be a percentage that buy from the site...

Lucien,

Could we get the scale added to the notification email?

I recieved 2 emails for the Johnson/Johnson Qld 500 car last week and had no idea what scales they were referring to...as it turned out, a 3rd email came the next day with the 3rd scale...so that solved my conundrum...but the scale included in the email would make it a lot easier...

Cheers
