As I have been living here in Stuttgart I have been buying my Porsche 1:43 directly from Porsche. Since they are made by Minichamp they come in a Porsche box and on the plastic mount it just has the model of the Porsche, for example 911 Turbo. But if I buy this same model from a model car shop, the box is Minichamp and on the plastic mount it has the model 911 Turbo plus 1 from 2000pcs. This writing 1 from 2000pcs, I think ruins the presentation of the whole car. Do they really need these's numbers on the front of the mount. Maybe some place underneath the plastic mount would be better? I can understand with the race versions that they need to put drivers names etc but the numbers? It's just food for thought.

I actually think this is a very clever piece of marketing. In my own case, knowing a particular Minichamps model was say 1 of 1,012 pieces (worldwide) has been the deciding factor in the 'Will I Get It' or 'Won't I Get It' dilema. Unless the number can be seen easily when the model is displayed on a shop shelf this impact will be lost.
What I'd like to see though is the numbering information made a little more available in advance via the Minichamps catalogue, the Minichamps website and even the Biante website. This would make it a lot easier to plan in advance for particular purchases.
I'm also concerned that the numbering system is misleading. With Minichamps also releasing the same items in dealer packaging for Porsche, Audi & BMW these models (I guess) are not counted in numbered production run from Minichamps.

I agree guys Minichamps are playing with our minds in releasing the same model for different markets. This year I purchased the Porsche Carrera GT from Porsche at Jeff's Shed in the beautiful silver for $20 cheaper than the regular Minichamps model in black.
I just picked up the BMW released E30 M3 in red from the UK as people from (Mulgrave) BMW Australia say this model does not exist on their parts catalogue.
News for Minichamps collectors is that the proposed 11 year book is put on ice at the moment as they did not expect to be a big item.
On the topic of low certificate numbers heres some of mine
Crompton 2002 1/43-0007/2000
Larkham 2001 CC-0014/2000
Lowndes 2002 1/18-0063/6000

I think Minichamp are playing with our minds as so called limited editions are really not that limited. If you are after a Minichamp 1 from 1008 limited edition Porsche for example and they tell you it has sold out competely, then all you have to do is go to your Porsche dealer and they would have one without the numbers. I know Minichamp are in the business to make money and thats ok but I just question the so called "limited edition tag!". I think the models that are givin to Porsche from Minichamp are better presented. Cheers.

I think in most instances that the colours the manufacturers get are different to the ones released to the collector market.
If that is so, then the numbering is correct. If its a Black car limited to 1008pcs and the Porsche factory car is Silver, then the Black car is in fact only one of 1008.

I have cross checked with the Porsche Diecast Book and the Porsche selection web page with Minichamp and both companies have the same colour range except that Minichamp are selling a gold painted 911. This gold 911 maybe a so called limited edition at the moment but we will see if Porsche puts it into there stock.
???(limited editions)??? Cheers.
