Looks like this was run on the weekend up at Marysville in Victoria ... not a huge field but seems:

Allan Simsonsen in A Subaru beat the regulars in his first ever tarmac rally run ...
Cody Crocker and Ben Atkinson were fourth
Steven Richards put his BDA Escort off the road ( banged it up but he and Gerry Bashford are OK )
Tasmania's Duke of Hazard John and Jason White were 3rd in the Gallardo.

You'll be saying the same about the Suncoast mate. C'mon board!! Bill should have his stroker motor out by then, we'll kick his aluminium butt! :-)

Regardless of who which brand he races for now, I seem to remember that the Escort is his car that he has been building for the past couple of years as a hobby. I seem to recall he 1st ran it at Targa about 2 years ago....

Almost Brad - He first ran it at Rally Tasmania in 2004 then Classic Adelaide 2004 and 2005 ( where he blew the gearbox up about 1.5km's into the very first stage ) ... It's an awesome bit of gear.

Yes the escort is his car ... old man Jim used to rally escorts and up until recently still had Colin Bonds old ARC Championship Escort ... Steve grew up around 'em so wanted one to have some fun with.

I though it was pretty cool that Larry/Holden let him have a play in his spare time ... I also wondered what his wife thought when he went racing an escort in his spare time !!

The Holden/Larry/Richo thing was uncomfortable around tarmac rallying. He was originally scheduled to drive the Elfin Clubman V8 before McConville until Holden/Larry vetoed it.

Is that the Elfin that Brocky ended up driving at Classic Adelaide ?

Yeah, same car. Larry was not happy about that.
Remember Steve had a Subaru WRX and won Targa NZ with it a few years ago...Holden made him sell that car.

Ahh yes - that was Tony Sullens Targa winning scooby that Richo bought and then I understand Maher Algadri ended up with it ...

Thought it was IYK000. Carr's beasty. Bond usually ran 'snoopy' or later one of theYJA/T 444 cars.

Pretty ordinary that you dont get a choice of what you drive on your time away from the track.
There is history with Richo and the escorts.
