It is great to see that many so called scarse cars of the Biante range have come down with the socalled speculators burning!
these models are for pleasure only and are not shares!
to make $20 or so on a model every so often , what is the deal!
In my book if you are able to get the same $ back when you sell ,that is a great bonus.
If you want to speculate in models then F1 is a better bet if you were buying in the beginning of the Ferrari/Schumacher alliance.
for the rest it is just a case of wait and you will get it for the right price even the DJR Xe will be out in the better livery of Channel 7 and should bring the silly price back to normal proportions and the same with the Cosworth Sierra (one of the best models) and the other socalled scarse ones
To see Brock Vr models at $200 ,what is going on ,they are trying to make a $30 gross profit that after expenses is a net proffit of zilzs ,in my book just a timewasting exersice, just anoying!!

I agree that the prices asked for the Johnson XE are ridiculous, and it's partly because there has been only the one released - I also reckon the next one looks much better, and being so "historic" may well cause the earlier issue to drop in price quite dramatically. Having said that, despite several GTHO Phase 3s being released, you try getting a Track Red one for under $500! And Moffat's Cobra is being advertised at $450 even though there have been a number of XC hardtops, plus the XBs!
Let's have a bit of a bet - how much do people think the '77 twin set will be going for in model shops in 12 months time? It'd be interesting to see just what silly figure is being asked!

Even though we buy these cars for the sheer passion of it, they will always be considered a collectable item, and therefore attract the prices they do. Whether you are into stamps, coins, bottles or bears or the beloved "Limited Number" Biante must have, even the Costello Inc. considers them an asset. Be happy with the thought that if one day you should be in a pickle financialy, the beloved Biante's are something you could fall back on as they do appreciate in value so much! Not great if you have missed a model, I know, but at the end of the day we are definately in front......

Totally agree, some cars are way overpriced, I've paid good money for some of my models, and i've also sold/swapped a few.
It's the way it goes, Ferrari fan, you've never sold a model for more than retail price???.
Cheers.

i cannot argue that less popular models are worth less than retail and that recommeneded retail is available on some current models, but to speculate that prices are dropping on poular and/or hard to get models is a furphy.
like all market places, including our hallowed colectables, the price may vary but i only see the market strengthenning.
prices on the better models are firming........
nb: i can only provide proof if necessary on ford models....but what else would you buy

Hey Peter,
Being a Holden fan I never thought I would buy a Ford for the collection but now glad I have cause some of those Moffat cars are GREAT! Cant wait to put a Monaro in the collection to go with the old XCs :D
You can't deny the fact that these cars are great and if you do limit your collection to one side you guys are missing out on some great models.
Also I think I have paid more for my Fords than the Holdens, oh well... it was fun hunting some of them down :)

its a funny thing this holden/ford thing...many holden fans will buy a diecast ford they like, but many diecast ford collectors including myself just wont jump the fence....
or crawl under it....lol
but i am keen on the godzillas and may have to get the pair of bathurst winners...after all i drive a nissan

Has anyone seen a Devil Monaro CV8 for under $300.00 on sold lately ?
As for Ford fans not buying holdens, i'm sorry it has happined.
I have to own up to owning the following Holdens
Devil colour CV8 Monaro
Brock's #28c Torrana
Brock's Tasie Targa Monaro
Unfortunately, some of those dam Holden's just look too good to stay in the shop, so susfice to say, i gave them a good home.
cheers.

I have to admit that I am in neither camp other than loathing HRT (at the moment ,Tommo payingslow and that Jeff Grizzler.)
Peter Brock and Dick Johnson are much admirred and the XC Moffat is a beauty ,together with the Audi's 2Lt of olden days
The sound that these made was awsome. and the technology is of another (much Higher) standard than the current pushrod V8's which in my book is just a hybrid vehicle with either a ford or a GM panelpackage on it .

Sorry, can't bring myself to crawl under the fence, mine is an all FORD collection at the moment but that will change when the Chargers come out in 1/18.:D
Moffat Twin Set price in twelve months?
I can only just imagine. I rekon as soon as they are in people's possession, they will be asking $700.00. for the set.
