I think fisichella will win the aussie g.p.
He's got the renault, which have produced the world champion 2 years in a row and has won the g.p before.
Massa,alonso,kimi could win.........
Any other guesses before practice.

I'd be putting Kimi and Alonso top of the tree, Masa and Button would be next pegging
Can't rule out Hamilton or Heidfeld if we see any major carnage or mechanical failures for the top runners

I am picking Massa. He has tested very strong over the break and also Hamilton to get a possible podium spot.
I also think Fisi will get blown away by his new team mate (and get replaced before the season is finished) :evil2:

I concur. I can say with confidence that a Schumacher wont.

I believe its easier to pick who wont win at this stage
I will be shocked if anybody but Raikkonen, Alonso or Massa win as I think these guys will be the main contenders this year.
But if other drivers step up it will be good to watch.

Massa or Alonso. Massa has been fearfully quick in testing, but has had a shocking run at the Albert Park track.
If he can get the monkey off his back I think he has enough to just shade Alonso.

Massa I think...Of the top drivers he has had the least disruption by far....The others are all in new cars or cr@p....sorry, I mean not competitive...

Massa is my pick too.Love to see Fisi replaced. He has proven to be a stylish driver, but got butchered by Alonso. Also as a huge Nelson Piquet fan I want to see Nelsinho Piquet in F1.

i just got back and it was very average, maybe due to the missing v8s.there weren,t many people there either.i was surprised how the place had shrunk.the stands were much smaller in size and less of them, along queens road side where all the corp boxes were is now empty.the area where the v8s used to be is now taken up by the aus cars, formular 3 and the utes.the tent whre the historics were is no longer, the have moved further down to an open type display next to the porsches, maybe with a bigger crowd on sat/sun the atmosphere may be better.who else went today

Just got back myself and gee, what a disapointment. for the morning the place was overun by school children who were given free entry in an attempt to prop up crowd figures. My mate who came with me said he came to the GP to get away from the kids, but they were yahooing everywhere.
The scheduled ADF blackhawk display did not happen. The RAAF Roulettes werent even listed to show friday (as they were the past 11 years). The support races didnt happen until it was so late the vendors were packing up while they were on (the ute race was a cracker). This doesnt encourage the meagure crowd to stick around.
On the plus side the amount of F1 time was fantastic. Under the new practice rules you had pretty much the whole field out most of the time.
With Fosters gone, you can buy VB now (at $5.50 a can!)
With the low crowd, it wasnt hard to find a good vantage point.
Mind you I'll be back tomorrow... I have to entertain some out of towners :)
Cheers,
Paul.

From a tv perspective, the F1 sessions were the best Friday viewing I had. Did you enjoy the F1 practise sessions. I had a small luxury of watching it by tape and skipping the carrera cup race. The crowd for that race reminded me of the V8s in Bahrain.

i know but how can you talk a guy up because he has been thrown in to one of the contending cars for the year and is doing good times? i would expect nothing less of any formula 1 class driver to deliver good times in the mclaren. Each to there own but i think a few people are jumping the gun a bit. He is indeed a good talent but im sure that if you put 75% of the f1 field in the mclaren at the moment they would do good times too

So the effort Hamilton has put in at his first ever gp on a tough circuit doesn't seem to be anything special then?
The thing about Hamilton is the entire package. Many guys are young and fast, but Lewis is a supremely mature driver for his age.
Alonso is already proving what a champion he is. Two titles already and he's not afraid to have a team mate in a decent car race against him.
I think Fernando will be one of the all time greats. :)
Great for the sport as I don't think it's missing Schumacher at all.

agree with you he does seem a top quality driver but i still think he has been given a tremendous help to his career by ron dennis chucking him in the macca, but the best of luck to him its good to a decent british driver for a change. Bring on the grand prix i say

The crop of guys entering f1 or on the fringe at the moment is very exciting. We seem to be getting back to fields where drivers are using merit to earn drives which is only good.
The cars are also closer than ever (as proved by yesterday) and we could be in for another golden era of f1 racing.
