A question was asked by "jager" a few weeks ago. Jager asked whether Biante had any plans to release the '68 Bathurst Alfa Romeo 1750 GTVs given that AUTOart has recently released this model Alfa in 1:18. At Bathurst in '68, 3 Alfas finished immediately behind the Monaros that finished 1,2 & 3.

I added to Jager's question my dream of Biante releasing in 1:18 the 1985 ATCC Alfa Romeo GTV6s driven by Colin Bond & Alan Jones.

Admin responded that there were plans to do the Alfas, however Admin did not mention which model Alfa. The '68 cars, or the '85 cars ?

This is my problem. Do I wait for something that may never happen (ie. the '85 Alfas in 1:18), or do I start collecting the A9Xs ?

I have worshipped the A9X since I was 12yo. Damn decisions !!!

Admin can you please put me out of my misery !!! Alfas or A9Xs ?

Hey Loste

The answer to your question may not be as obvious as you think. The Alfa Romeo Owners Club is reportedly the largest single marque club in Australia with over 4,000 members, with the average Alfa owner typically being far more passionate about his car than owners of other marques. Don't understate demand for these models here in Australia.

In reality I think the Alfa GTV / GTV6 will be done, but by Minichamps rather than Biante. The GTV6 was raced extensively in Europe in '83 - '86 (ie pre Sierra days) and won the European Touring Car Championship in '83 & '84, the British and French Touring Car Championships in '83, plus had success in Germany & Italy. Thus models of these cars would be highly sought after in Europe. The same basic mould could also be used for the '74 - '83 2 litre GTV that was also successfully raced and rallied.

On a local basis Biante might sell more A9X's, but on an international basis the GTV / GTV6 would be a far more profitable model given the large number of possible variations and international demand.

Well guys, how about a T33? Now that may not have raced at Bathurst, but is that one of the most beautiful Alfas ever or what?
I'm waiting for a model of one of those babies by ANYONE!

Nick

As long as your happy with 1/43 there are heaps of 33's to chose from.

Best have done approx 10 variations of the original 1968 33.2 :

Minichamps did a stunning model of the 33 Stradale with an opening engine cover and detailed engine :-

Hey Nick

I have all the Alfa 33s mentioned by Jager. The 1:43 Minichamps Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is mind-blowing !!! I have a few of these because it is just so good !!! (& it's a Limited Edition of 9,999 units). The detailed engine bay is outstanding, 16 ignition leads from 2 distributors (2.0 litre V8, two sparkplugs per cylinder).

You have wonderful taste my friend !!!

Hey Jager

Thank you very much for your comments. You put things into the perspective that they ought to be. I could not have said it any better myself !!! Most appreciated !!!

I would also like to thank you for your advice of a couple of months ago in relation to removing the decals on one Minichamps car, to re-apply to another. I enjoyed a brilliant result !!!

I am very happy to know that I have a 'kindred spirit' at the Biante Forum.

I think most of Biantes sales are done in Australia. Therefore with this in mind the A9X would appeal to most of us here. Theres no doubt the Alfa would make an excellent addition, i just dont think Biante has this as a high priority.

jager and alfaromeogtv6, thanks for the info on T33 models! Although I only normally collect 1:18 I'm very tempted by the Stradale model! The trouble is, as well as Aussie Touring Cars and their road equivalents, I'm into European Touring Cars, Sports Racing Cars and Group B rally cars, so if I start collecting 1:43 I'll have to get all of those that are available now......I had been trying to limit myself by waiting for 1:18 models of these.

Hey SmartyMarty

I've been feeling pretty crook today. So unfortunately I could'nt get to the Speed Trials. I live in North Geelong, about a kilometre from Melbourne Road. Late this afternoon I could hear lots of beautiful exhaust music. It sure did'nt make me feel any better !!!
