Echo those sentiments Commander, i have never really been to many Speedway meetings but i went to one years ago in Bendigo and saw George and the boys flying around, it still amazes me as to how they can control a high powered V8 the way they do.
George will be sorely missed by all motorsport fans not just those from the speedway fraternity.

Very sad to hear. Spent many a night watching him do his thing. :(

Heard the sad news yesterday morning.
George had been fighting an uphill battle with a variety of serious health issues for the past few years (including a stroke almost a year ago), but it was pancreatic cancer that he finally succumbed to.
A true legend of the sport of speedway in Australia, he was both a National Speedcar and Sprintcar champion, as well as a multiple World Series Sprintcar Champion.
Sympathies to wife Val, big brother Joe, daughters Kelly & Gale and of course son Brooke, who will undoubtably keep the Tatnell name at the forefront of speedway racing for many years to come.
RIP 'Gorgeous' George

As a member of the speedway fraternity, i was shocked to find out that George. Having witness his final years as a driver from the Winfield no.5 through to the Shell Oils no.5 and the start of his son Brookes career in the very late 80's at Parramatta City Raceway in Sydney, my sincere condolances go to the Tatnell family.
Also George was the winner of the first World Series Sprintcar Series in 1987-88.
RIP George Tatnell
