Just a question. Which car adverts do people out there like? The one that made me want to just go out and buy a car was the Mitsubishi "Music in you" Ad. No gimmicks, twists or confused ford drivers looking for a lake. Just family/friends having a good time while driving. bear in mind it didn't mean I wanted to buy a Magna... I also like the dunlop "Know the road" ad. and Falcon "cant get enough of this" ad.
I realise we probarbly get different ads across australia and obviously the world but Im just interested in what others recon.

I have admired the Subaru ads for some time......the classical music...and usually slow motion pictures of the cars. The different themes of the AWD package are subtle.
The Mitsubishi ad is a real sticker....catch myself singing the song many times.:)

i gotta agree with the "know the road" and the falcon "cant get enough of this". both are cool ad's, and i catch myself singign the songs to myself all the time!

I like the Commodore ute ads. AC/DC thunderstruck a ute doing some circle work in the outback or some crop circles. What more
could you ask for.
Real Aussies drive utes.

I also figured the Mitsu ads to be happy and catchy..... liked the ads, but still not that stimulated by the cars.
Real favourites of recent times were the original "Storm" Commodore ute ad, and the "shaking dog" Jeep Cherokee ad which was obviously a US import.
Most annoying ads are divided between any Toyota ad and the worst for me was the current model Barina ads as promoted incessantly during shows like "The Secret Life of Us"..... maybe I'm just not hip, man !!!

Does anyone remember the ads Ford ran for the ED XR6 ?
It was the one when the bloke was rushing his pregnant wife to hospital and drives down some stairs & throught a park - absolute classic in my book !!!
What about the skiing behind the XR8 ute on the salt lake ?
At present I must say, that I drop everything & rush to the TV(and turn it up real lould!!!) whenever the new Barra XR8 ute ad is on - I just love the sound of the V8 at the end - truely awesome !!!
Cheers.

There was a HSV ad a few years ago and he talks about topping up this super and then he turns around and says " stuff it" as he drops his foot and plants the VS GTS to the floor.:D

speaking of HSV ads.......
there was one where they copied a song by using the exhaust notes from hsvs.....
i thought that was clever. also having a the cars cruize around at the same time wasnt half bad either...

You guys obviously have better car ads than we do in the UK - we get yuppies driving around having a SUPER time in London, to the trendy indie band for that week. All written by pony-tailed red-braces ad execs who don't know anything about cars or that there is life outside London.......

What !!! say it isn't true !!!
Don't tell me the V8 noise is a fake !!!
I just hope they haven't got two of those Camry Police cars & mixed their exaust note to make it sound like a V8 !!!
Well if it isn't a Ford V8, what is it then ?
cheers.

Wombat,
If you think something is going to be offensive, don't post it.
This forum is open to anyone (provided they are a member) & what you have posted is utter smut.
Do the deasent thing & clean it up ASAP!!!!
Children do not need to read this sought of rott of the internet. This forum is a good one, so don't bring it down to the gutter levels of some other forums that are on the net, with the above mentioned post.

Brchi, I apologise to you and those who read the post before it was removed it if you thought it offensive. Perhaps my attempt to portray the mock-ad in a humourous manner was misguided, however, I thought so little of it that I showed my 15yo son as the mock-ad itself IS funny (and very professionally made).
Sexually suggestive advertising is a fact of life (5 Cougars thanks!) and I believe I was making the point that the ad itself was typical of those that make it difficult to determine the advertised product or service until probably the Co logo is displayed.
Your post, ugly as it is, has served to remind me that it is freely accessable by minors.
Again, sincere appologies.

back to the HSV ads, that song with the exhaust notes is (or was) avaliable on cd when you bought a HRT cd pouch. i got it and it has 2 versions on it (1min and 3min long) nice cd but it gets annoying after the first 10 repeats. although with it pumping at full base, i got some interesting looks at my holden cruze :)

That HSV ad would have been the one where all of the cars (VT I think, it could have been the last of the Aussie V8's) drove past and all we could here were their V8's all sing in tune ?

Further to car ads that we have enjoyed, I agree with an earlier post in this thread of the Subaru ad to classical music. I waited for the shot of Possum Bourne getting airborne over the crest in his Impreza WRC 2000. Just brilliant. Poetry in motion. Subaru have certainly turned themselves around from the days when they sold rugged all-wheel-drive wagons to farmers.
The other ad that sticks with me is a Toyota ad (sorry Graeme, you said you didn't like them). It was the ad that first advertised the 'bug-eye' Corolla, and used footage of the then-new Corolla WRC in tarmac guise to Blur's 'Song 2' - "Woo-hoo"!
Must be something about World Rally Cars and really cool car ads. I think Peugeot should get into the act with their 206 WRC, and maybe Ford should import a few of the UK ads into Australia for the Focus with their WRC car - probably a little late now though as Colin McRae has left the blue oval....

Good idea about the Peugeot Andrew, especially with their recent rally record, bit boring for the subaru fans though!
When i was in the UK last Christmas I saw some great Focus commercials, some with Carlos Sainz as well, perhaps they could refilm them with Markko Martin and Duval?
