Hi guys.....
Time for another poll.
From time to time, different posts appear asking what we would want to be made to add to our own collections.
This post is a slight variation and not about a 'wish list'. Its simply a yes/no answer letting them know that you have either had enough or want more of the same......
Are you getting abit tired of the 'same' VT, VX, AU model being made??? Yes, they are different race teams and yes they might be differenent drivers but basically they are the SAME model with slight 'variations'.
Is that all diecast collectors want?
Do you want something different?
Well this is your time to vote !!
Tell Biante that you want something different
Agree or disagree with me? Time to vote !!!
Every vote counts

this is EXACTLY what im trying to avoid. Biante have had so many suggestions from us in the past its not funny but yet keep 'pumping' out more of the same.
All this poll is trying to do is hopefully get them to sit up and take notice of the CUSTOMER......
Forget the collector (i know that this sounds harsh but without 'customers', biante would be dead in the water!) because after all its the customer who keeps them going. They are here to make money, arent they?????
if you keep making more of the same then people are not going to stick around and keep buying em if there is a real alternative out there or on the horizon (.......HINT.....HINT.........)

Loste, i must say that i am slightly losing interest due to the number of "simular" models. We spoke about this in melbourne, as you may recall.
Its hard, do i:
a) continue to collect every model, to keep the collection complete,
or
b) start purchasing only the ones that really impress me??
Situation "a" could see me lose interest all together... too much of a good thing can really be too much. (eg: dollars for variety)
Where as situation "b" would see me having a more 'compact' collection of some truely inspiring models (hey, they are all great, but some have got that extra wow factor in my opinion).
I guess when i do something, i think to get really involved. I probably wouldnt be happy with only a 'selection' of biante models, i want the whole lot!
Id like to see the LC/J and VL shapes revisited. The moulds are done, so why not?
I understand the AU and VT/X is the current shape, and people are impulse or inspiration buying... which is excellent for biante, because we all want them to be very successful in what they do.

I m satisfied with 1 or 2 cars of the same type...i want to display as much different modells as possible as i m trying to show a cross-section of motorsport history. My personal main interest lies in the 50 s 60 s and 70 s. Biante as an australian modelcar manufacturer should of course produce australian cars first but also cars that were racing or driving on australian race tracks/streets.In the racing section i d love to see more racing cars from the 60 s and 70 s...driven at Bathurst and other tracks not just Holden and Ford(Australia)...there were Capri s Escort s Alfa s Mini s Chrysler s Toyota s Datsun s Mazda s Sudebaker s Fiat s Lotus Cortina s !!!!!!!! Ford Anglia s Vauxhall s Volkswagen s Mercedes s BMC s Peugot s Morris s etc.
I know not everybody is interested in buying a Mazda model or a Fiat 850 but there are a lot of famous well known race cars that alot of people would like to display in their cabinets.
What about a series of Australian street machines..?????
I ve seen so many great street machines on australian roads.....and i m sure there are heaps of people out there who love them...
Cheers Marty

Well I started off with the intention of collecting all of the 1.18's but I soon came to realise that there were far to many of the same type of cars (HRT for example) and really if you ever decided to sell your collection what are the chances of finding some one who will buy a complete collection anyway, pretty slim I reckon so I now limit my collection to Bathurst winners and 60's and 70's road cars, it fits in well with my interests with Australian cars and I find the need to purchase 5 or 6 cars a year which fits in very well with the wallet, oh and I don't collect coulours either just one colour of each car will do me.

It is simple, You don't want them then don't buy them.
Biante could make 1 million different models a year and it would not matter to me (and I assume a majority of other collectors) because I buy what I like. I don't buy everything and I also don't buy to throw on auction sites like you do Loste.
There are obviously things behind the scenes that none of us know about so let's let Biante do what they do and then buy what you want. What would you do with your ebay auctions if Biante stopped making V8Supercar minicars Loste, there is a high percentage of your auctions gone straight away. Or actually, that would probably push up the price of other cars for you.
You are saying cut back on the V8s and produce other types of models. Next week you will be saying slow down with other releases, then the next week you will be asking for more models to be made.
Think about it!

You just made no point what so ever.
All I was trying to say was you keep telling Biante to do something different every week then you contradict yourself the next week by asking for the total opposite.
Please come back with some sort of point or logical reply as this discussion could go a lot further.

what have i told biante to do every week that is different? the only post ive raised apart from this one is the VL Commodore that Biante were going to bing back to life.
all im trying to do here is hopefully make biante aware that many of us collectors (me included) are getting abit stale with the same additions to our collections.
can you please give me an example where i have contradicted myself???

This one was the post that kept springing to mind
Hello all,
Can anyone advise when the next shipment of minicars is due to hit our shores??
I cant justify paying some of the prices people are asking on E-Bay for a model which is not a limited run and still a 'current' product.....

From a collectors point of view I buy models based on the visual appeal that they have. I love box sets as they display the cars well and usually have some sort of Bio on the back panel. GMP and Exoto are getting into this aswell as minichamps to as lessor extent.
The basic packaging for the supercar Autoart models does no justice to the cars or the teams.
Just imagine if every car issued came with the sleeve cover like the limited minichamp editions
The best packaging so far this year has to go to the Bathurst Brock VX, imagine if the 1/43rd cars came with this sort of detail on the sleeve.
It would be great if Biante could look at doing some 1/43rd box sets using cars already made or about to be made.
I had this thought the other day for some great box sets,
"Brock's top 5 Touring cars"
"Dick's " " "
"Allan's"
"Craig's"
"Mark's"
You get the point
Packaging (HRT 4 car set style)
A neat box that covers the history of each drivers top five cars that they drove, not nesessarily winning cars but the 5 they liked the most.
Car 1 comes with the box (premium paid for box with initial car)and the other four are released over the next 2 years as part of the general Biante range. We buy them and put them in the box. This way we can spread the cost of the box set over two years and at the end have a great collection, those who don't want the expensive box can still get that cars as general edition available in the standard packaging.
This way Biante are still making the cars that everybody wants and is satisfying the needs of the die hard collectors / customers.
Just an idea if somebody is interested.

Well my opinion is Biante do a great job. If there was NO Biante would I have the 84 DJ falcon? Would I have the 81 DJ XD? Would I even have the Sierra? No I dont think so. I wonder what I would have if there were no Biante produced car, a CC RAT Falcon, a DJR AU Falcon and a Seton AU Falcon. Now they are cars to get excited about. I guess they don't fetch much on ebay either.
One thing, (no disrespect guys) Biante has done with it's wonderfull, very desirable cars is created a place for RIP off mechants to profits from those who may have missed out.
I know one person such as this who is the first to complain when they miss out on a car (sound familar). Funny enough this person scored 4 cars which were ultra hard to get and went through the roof. Funny this person has now held onto 3 cars and will make a nice little profit off others.
I have made a point now of not dealing with people who like to profit from others. If I miss out it's bad luck and they will never get a cent of my money.

I think between Biante,Dinkum,Classic,Trax and the smaller distributors they have the Australian Market Covered in 1/18,1/24 ,1/43,1/64. So im not sure what a new line would consist of.Perhaps i too and missing the Point,I wouldnt like to see endless FJs etc in 1/43 coming from Biante, just so they could produce an old Holden line too.

well i think Biante are doing a great job. and i also think that they lernt their lesson with the VT models. they made so many that people lost interest in them and only collected a few. i for one only collect one of each team or colour although i do collect one race car and one road car of each varient. (Grice/Percy-Walkinshaw, VT HRT - Clubsport, etc) some places are still selling the VT touring cars and they just cant get rid of them. i think its great that biante have dropped back to team brock and TWR cars. it makes only about 4 or 5 touring cars for me to collect so i have enough cash left to get the classics (first priority) and road cars

Very good Mustang and your suggestion is?
This thread is about, What would we like different?
If everybody got off the bagging and defence of Biante and wrote answers to the original questions these threads would be enjoyable to read and respond to.

Wow, this one touched a nerve, didn't it? Most of the above just reinforces my philosophy of only collecting ONE of each body shell (nuts to collecting EVERY colour-scheme) and only in 1/43 to keep costs down. Biante DO make the best 1/43 & 1/18, but between all the various makers you can buy almost anything you want, new, for around $40-00. As for suggestions, as mentioned somewhere above, what about a Bathurst series taking in the 50's - 90's. Trax is already mining this one.

At the risk of some replies that are uninformed, biased etc I will attempt to add a sensible response to this thread, which I have read a couple of times.
Firstly...what is a "Collection"?
To me a collection of anything is a history of the particular "thing" you decide is important enough to follow from beginning to end.
Take for example a collection of cars driven by Ayrton Senna.
If we are to apply the analogy as some have that "one HRT car is enough", does that mean your Senna "collection" would consist of a Tolman, a Lotus, a McLaren and a Williams?
As someone who admired Senna, and collects things, I think that my collection should try to consist of EVERY car he ever drove.
Why would I only want one black Lotus..they look the same (but they are different). Reason. Ayrton won his first race in an 85 car and I saw him for the first time at Adelaide in an 85 car.
Next year in a car that looked almost identical (but wasn't) he came of age and, had 2 wins, eight podiums and, with Mansell, featured in the closest finish in history. Until this years Ferrari farce!!
Same with McLaren for 5 years, in cars that looked similar, but some terrific highs and some lows were achieved in these cars. All look much the same to the unknowing, but ALL worth "Collecting" for the memories.
Even the two Williams cars, even though the FW16 had horrific memories, it is still part of the "Collection".
Same with HRT cars, coins, stamps, teddy bears, whatever.
If you just want one of each type of car, may I suggest you are NOT collecting, but just accumulating.
Secondly....We have just entered product number 10, 882 on the website today, so I think there is enough there to go on with for now.
Thirdly.....As far as cars that have done specific things that people want and have not been made yet, it will happen. You just have to wait until it does and then, if it is part of your "collection", make sure you get one.
And lastly......You may desire anything, but NO manufacturer can make some models. The dreaded subject of money always comes up and put simply...if it is not an economical proposition, there is no way on earth it can or will be made.
Not that it funds my cars as some have suggested (I drove a Ferrari before I started making models and now I drive a Holden...Perry)
No one in their right minds deliberately sets out to lose money. If I did, perhaps instead of answering this and working all 7 days of every week, I could by another Ferrari and enjoy some time doing other things with my family.
Until then, I will keep making models for Collectors.

Well said Admin, each to their own (collections)
You may desire anything, but NO manufacturer can make some models. The dreaded subject of money always comes up and put simply...if it is not an economical proposition, there is no way on earth it can or will be made. isn't that why code 3 was invented?

Overall, Biante release a good range of models - a little bit to please everyone. OK we might not get what we want every week, or month for that matter, but patience is a virtue.....
Don't forget it's not only cars they release. They cater for everyone, whether it be bike fans, movie fans , car fanatics or those after accessories like clocks & helmets etc.
Now thats a lot of people to please all of the time!
Personally I'd like to see more done in the 1:43 range & a true to life 1:18 XB Ute! But I am one of many.....
That's why we have the wish list!

Id really like to see some VR and VS HSV's. I dont know how easy it is to use the VR Brock mould, but if possible there are some great models that could be made.
For example the VS GTS-R as a start, and even the VS Clubsport, which has been the most popular HSV ever, in terms of volume sold.
Just a though anyway.....

ive already got a GTS-R in 1:43 scale. picked it up from sold.com.au for only $85.00 (including postage). its made by AMM and is not a code 3.
I've since found out that AMM stands for Australian Motoring Minatures. Anyone know anything about this company? The level of quality is similar to a Dinkum.
Id be curious to see what else they have in their range......

Once again, Biante management have shown themselves to be (unlike so many in business) genuine model enthusiasts who know their market inside-out. Of course we're all like kids writing their Christmas lists - that's what being an enthusiast is all about, otherwise we'd be merely buying to speculate rather than anticipating our favourites and how they'll look in our collections. If Biante released every car I lust after in the next 6 months, apart from having to live in a cardboard box where would I go from there? It's the wait and anticipation that makes this hobby what it is. If I could just walk into a big warehouse and say "I'll have that one, that one, that one" etc and my collection is complete, the fun has gone out of it.
Just my two shillings and sixpence worth (in old Pommy money).

Does anybody know why BIANTE stopped doing the Larry Perkins Racing cars and the Gary Rogers Motorsport cars??? I am sure the LPR cars sold well.
I wonder if BIANTE have any new teams for 2003, eg Lansavale Racing Team(in small numbers) and maybe Dugal Racing (pepsi car looks great) for the commodores.
