Inter , the general scale for car kits is 1:24 or 1:12, 1:18 kits are very rare. Car touch up paint will most likely eat the plastic unless it is properly primed , the following link gives you some hints on using car (auto) paints on plastic models.

hey inter ,tamiya metallic paints are the best quality and easiest to use if your starting out ,they make a primer base aswell ,it can get pretty expensive though as all hobbies do !!!! :)

Hi Inter

No one makes either the Escort or the Capri as a kit in 1/18th scale.

Esci and Revell have released various Escort Mk2 RS1800 Rally cars whihc have engine detail but these renditions are far from perfect.

Tamiya has relaeased two Zakspeed Mk3 Capri Group 5 Race cars from the 70's & 80's. There are a number of US spec race & street Mk2 Capri's Capri's available but these do not resemble the cars on the roads in Australia or New Zealand.

If you are ineterested in seeing more on any of the above let me know and I will take some photos of what I have.

Airfix did a version of the Mk1 Escort as a street car in 1/32nd scale back in the sixties and these still come up on ebay ocassionally.

If you are interested in street legal versions of either the Mk2 Escort or the or Mk 1,2 or 3 Capri you are pretty much going to have to scratch build them.

Ric, Hasegawa do a 1/24 version of the race car. Very well detailed, decals are for the European car but there are places you can source the necessary Bathurst decals. You will probably only get them via Ebay o/seas at the moment though.

I built the 1/24th Hasegawa Jaguar kit as the 1985 Bathurst Winner.
Looked great next to my 1/24th 1985 Brock Mobil VK Commodore.
There should be some pictures of it in the forum somwhere it was a while ago when they were posted.

I think that's because he got distracted when he saw pics of the Shagadore, speaking of which, that project must be close to being completed by now....???
