OK here is my first topic for discussion-
I have been an avid fan of touring cars from when I was ten years old. I can only remember back to moffat and his beautiful falcons- XY and starting with the new hardtops. That was excelent to see them virtually straight off the showroom, interior in tact and all. These guys had to fight hard from the start, build a lead so if anything went wrong they had time to pit, fix it, get out and still lead or lose places, whichever happened.
Now days, still very much into V8supercars, this stupid thing called a "Safety Car", I find it almost and insult to any hard working, gut busting team, whether it some Multi million dollar team or just a privateer making the lead gap from the start of a race only to be robbed of not only time, fuel used, extra rubber wear etc, or maybe lose a lap only to be drawn back to the pack for a restart.
I wish that the race organisers would go back to the original way of using safety flags or warnings before the incident. With the amount of technology around these days, surely there is a way of limiting the speed of cars around an accident site.
How can this be achieved?
Transmitters around the track, sending electronic data to cars in the vacinity of the accident, reducing horsepower via ECM's etc. Just a idea.
What is your view?

I too have watched since I was about 9 years old , now 41, and I'm of the same opinion being a true blue ford fan, racing today is no where as good as it was back then, it wasn't about politics as V8 supercar racing is.
Some fool on another post doesn't think that winning on Sunday will sell on Monday ,I'm sure he'd like to be seen walking the street wearing a slogan on his back which say's ( I'm a born looser ) now would he, the same goes for the majority of us, we like to be identified with a winner, the same goes for the cars, the motorbikes, and even the clothes we wear on our backs.
The media is such a powerful weapon when it comes to sales and oh do people know how to use it to get a certain desired result they are paying for .
Today we more than ever in Australia are involved in the Global market race , for the last 10 years or so we have been forced to compete with other nations, what better way to promote your own home grown Aussie Icon ( The Holden Commodore ) beg your pardon ( German opel , British Vaxuall ) than to have it consistently wining on it's own race tracks to show the world that '' see ''even we here in Australia prefer it over the American badged giant '' Henry Ford '' falcon.
And to add to that how about a 24 HR race against the best that the world can offer, of course there will need to be a few things done "opp's''I cant help it, it,s just how things are done here in Australia ,we've be doing this to our blue ovalled Yankie rivals for now ten years or so and the benifits have been tremendious, sales have gone throught the roof, as for the Monaro , our World car market Export potential of course it's got to win. we've bent the rules to make sure it will , did I say that, opp's there I go again.
Go to Hell Holden Australia and Australia's corrupt politics can go with them,
I will never support or ever buy a Holden made car while my bum points to the ground . I'm sick of the biast that is in V8 Supercar racing due to the above.
Any one knows that WHEELS car magizine has been pro Holden for decades, some of their journals will even admit to it , this time though they couldn't get away with it because the public are becoming aware of some sort of foul play within the racing and sales Industry in this country.
I'f you dont believe me ask Dick Johnson , he used to race Holdens ,and I bet Craig Lownes holds a lot under his breath too.
Pace cars' totally agree , all that needs to be done is to fit each car with a eletronic device that comes on automatically once the car pass's a certain point on the track , this device could be designed to engage the car speed at say 80 km , if you choose to brake and travel slower that's yourt fault, but this thing wont alow the car to travel any faster than 80km, once it pases the activated devices on the track the signal is released
The track car be fitted out with a number of eletronic devices around it's prerimiter , they can be manually activated by race control headquarters where a certain accident has taken place on the track, this way there is no loss or any gain in time on the race circuit unless you choose to brake ( GREAT IDEA )

The Holden VTCommodore ss looks a great car but it's no better than an XR8 that's up to a individual's choice, but to have the public fooled into thinking that those cars out on the race circuit are a indication as to how they are in every day road use is boarding on conspiracy.
When the VT was first tested as a prototype supercar it was a bag of ! , it wouldn't handle so they were allowed to alter the front strutt towers , finally they got it to handle . IT also runs a FORD diff centre and in the future the VY will run a ford bottom end and FORD designed front end, ! what I'M i saying that the falcon has a better front end ? I thought it didn't handle and that's why they haven't been wining races ( that's wrong or something is wrong ''very wrong " Ford front end.)
I could tell you a lot about what has been going on for years , the same bias has been hapening to the falcon Brute utes and the John Bowe Mustang ,Ford being penalized for building to good of a road/race car
Any one knows that WHEELS car magizine has been pro Holden for decades, some of their journals will even admit to it , this time though they couldn't get away with it because the public are becoming aware of some sort of foul play within the racing and sales Industry in this country.

Stick it up you Holden cheats .

Well said Wesley, i'm sick of the bias as well but i think it might be ever so slowly changing either that or they contiue to loose fans at tracks and the whole thing finally turns into The Commondore cup.:( :(

Ahhh!!! WESLEY
Yes mate!! What can I say?
It's good to see that there is someone else out there ready to voice their opinion on the "Commodore Cup"(now Magnadore Cup).
As for the speed limiting device, this should be acheivable. They can fix electronic engines by modem. speed limiting would not be hard.
Thanks for your comment! Well Said
