My XU-1 project

Some may have seen pics of my 1:1 xu-1 , but I've recently bought a 2006 Historic xu-1 and gone about modifying it. I swapped the sprintmasters for a set of wheels off the LC xu-1 and managed to rub the numbers off the doors.
I haven't worked up the courage to try and get the banner off the top of the windscreen...

There was a whole thread on here a couple of weeks back about removing the Number and Banner from this model....its been done.

Looks like Metho will get the Banner off the window....but I have no experience here.

XU1 just found your thread and i must say nice LJ!!! Can i ask how you swapped the wheels? I am also about to use meths now to get the banner off but want the sprintmasters for my red LJ. However i am swapping the whole chassis with some help from my dealer..

I am halfway through a code three and despite my efforts not to touch the clear windscreen with nail polish remover, had some on my finger and left a white fingerprint.
However, I did discover that a bit of elbow grease and car polish will remove the mark

I did the smart thing and got someone else , whos do it before , to take the wheels off...
Where are you located ? I can direct you to him..
I'm looking for some more black wheels to do the same again..

hi mate, got the banner off although it took me 3 hours:D..im actually getting my LJ done tomorrow thanks to my dealer. He's swapping the whole chassis for me, it's meant to be easier. Im putting the sprintmasters on my red LJ and then maybe i can get the black wheels off for u if u want? Will let u know very soon, but most likely i can give u my set..

hey mate, no need. I dont need sprintmasters. I have a set, the blue LJ is my donor car which tomorrow will have the Red LJ chassis on it, with the black wheels. What i can do is then take the black wheels of the blue LJ and give them to you, or if you want i can sell you the blue LJ which is stripped of all decals and will have black steel wheels on it tomorrow? Or i can just give u the wheels and then put gmp wheels on it...

glad you like it mate, yeh i thought the silver spoiler (meant to be chrome) would be a nice touch and highlights the front a little more. The blue LJ is now in a million pieces. Motor is out, suspension, diff, exhaust...everything.:D:o Will be my first project. Want to lower it, change the wheels and put in a V8..not a huge 572 just a 308.

Last i decided to work on my blue LJ, so i got all the pieces and screws together and worked for 3 hours straight puttting it all back together. In the process i cut the springs 1mm so the car will sit lower. I have put the chassis is now but have to take it off again because i forgot to put the exhaust in:o:p:D. Car should be finished today and i will post some pics...

OK, my blue LJ XU1 is finally finished. All decals removed, lowered 1mm and front spoiler painted chrome silver.;) Don't know if i want to sell it or keep it.:rolleyes: Only cost me $100 but i put many hours into getting it looking like this, especially after pulling the car apart so im now quite attached to it.:D Might convert it to just a GTR down the track..

Chris, well done mate!!!:):D I love the look of the blue paint, especially without that window decal which kind of ruins it all, even though it is a race car. And please don't sell it, it looks to good and you will regret it afterwards!!;)
