Hi Guys,
Just wondering in regards to the GTR XU1 Peter Brock Bathurst 1971 Torana. I have seen about a dozen of these cars already on ebay for sale, but it states on the Biante site that the car is in transit and the car won't be available on the biante site till 2 pm on the 31st October 2007. What is the go, i have one on order with a guy at a model shop near where i live and he hasn't contacted me yet. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject.

It could mean a couple of things....people are pre-selling them, they ship you the car as soon as they get it or they have "fallen off the back of a truck".

Why not order these cars (on a regular base) with a reputable dealer.
I do know that many do send out all over the world.
If you have these preordered though them, then you will not miss out.
Postage is about the same as from Biante.
Biante website is good, but you cannot preorder and nowaday's to many desirable models in all sizes are made on the number of preorders received from the retailers.
the HDT /Brock improved 1/43 road models is a clear example.
Who knows, that with this early release date of this model ,the Bathurst winner could be out early as well.

31 D was an outright class winner (ClassD) and did have round headlight covers.
Would this one be classed as a Bathurst winner as a FORD won outright overall, or class E
What is the verdict on this, please.

Wonder why my Watchlist has not been updated for over a year then...and when you look under find a model it says Dev Approved.
Why should it have been updated? Final orders for stores were only due a few months ago...the model then goes into a "production que" ready for production. If the watchlist hasn't been moved from "Dev Approved" to "In Production" then that says to me that it's still in the que...
We get this additional piece of information regarding the likely timing and still people complain...

With the Bond / Skelton 74 Torana my Watchlist changed at each stage of the process and I was sent an email letting me know, which I thought was really cool.
Curious if that's now not the case.
If it's in Production that's great.
I rang a local store and they haven't heard anythng about the it and have not yet been asked to place an order.

I got mine last week & it looks great in my cabinet along with all my other Brocky cars.
I have noticed though there are quite a few of this Brock model on ebay & many are being passed in with no bids & I am wondering why? Is it due to the fact it hasn't been officially released yet by Biante or is as this isn't one of his more popular cars he drove? or are people are losing interest in the Legend now his gone? which I hope isn't the reason.

I think because there is no signed COA might have something to do with it. Profiteers can not make any money on the signiture, so now any cars released will be picked up by genuine collectors who dont worry about those things, thus pushing the price down. Secondly most know that Biante still have not released on their web site yet so why pay overprice now when there is still an opportunity to buy at RRP. Maybe once all are sold on Biante web site maybe the price might push up.

well aint I an idiot ?
After the debacle with the Porsche (still haven't got one, the only car I'm missing from the collection), I decided to have a look on ebay.
There were 10 of the LC for sale, one with a $500 buyout :o
I decided to take the plunge and not risk missing out on another direct purchase from Biante, so someone has just made a nice $25 profit from me ... still a hell of a lot cheaper than I would have ended up paying if this model does sell out though.
Of course then I come here and see pitstop still have them orderable for RRP :(

Yeah I've been around long enough that you'd think I'd know better.
I was at work, in a rush, and having bad memories of missing out on the Brock Porsche.
Lesson learnt, but at least it only cost me $30 (and the missed Biante bonus points ;))
Looks like the ebay leech market for the Brock collection cars has dried up, and us true collectors can go back to buying the models for our own enjoyment.
ps: noticed that there is still stock available on the website, do I feel like a dill or what ?

just a quick follow up to my story about leaping in and ordering from ebay for fear of missing out.
The model turned up on Tuesday, and luckily all of my concerns were unfounded.
Not only were the certificate and the brochure in the box, but the sticky tape on the foam packaging hadn't even been broken.
This was indeed a brand new model, never been out of the box.
It might have cost me a bit more than it should of, but at least I got what I was after.
Lesson learnt now though, it appears the buy for mega resale rush is over on these models and us collectors can go back to completing our collections.
Now if only I can plug that hole in my collection by picking up a reasonably priced Brock Porsche :(
Leigh
08-11-2007, 07:18 PM
I wouldn't bet on that Andrew...there are some Brock cars that are more popular than others...not all of us buy a model just because it has a particular persons name on the side!
Really, the only Brock models that have been instant sellouts were the very early 28C and #1 (all Biantes sold out by preorder back then), the 78 and 79 A9X's and the Porsche...arguably that last one was the one affected by his death.
I predict the 84 big banger could go a bit nuts and possibly the 87 VL...
monarocveightz
08-11-2007, 07:27 PM
Very true Leigh,
Anyone remember the Brock Seirra, had been sitting on Biante's website for ages, and then everyone wanted one when he passed away cos of the signed COA.
I knew the LC wouldn't be a massive sellout as A) no signed COA to help sell them, and B) the car didn't do anything that special.
I'm not sure about the VK Big Banger, sure everyone want's one, but Biante is making one, CC is making one seperate, and one in a set, so there will be plenty to go around.
I reckon the VL will sell well, as it was his last 1000 win
Leigh
08-11-2007, 07:29 PM
That's the wild card with the 84 and 87...two manufacturers making them in close succession. I dare say that the Gricey car won't sellout until the CC equivalent is in the shops!
AndrewW
08-11-2007, 08:01 PM

I guess I'm Biante's favourite sort of customer then.
If it's got Brock on the side I'll buy it :P
And if it's a Torana with Brock on the side then I'll do just about anything to have it.
