  • Model Kit's and Everything Related

Hi all,i thought i would start a thread for those here who are interested in kits and everything related.

Ok i'll start first here is my current project,it is the 1/20 Tamiya Mclaren Honda MP4/4.I only bought this kit last monday and have wanted to do it for about 12 months now, this is the kit that got me into kit's as i was looking for a minichamps 1/18 Senna MP4/4 but i didn't want to pay ridiculous amounts of money for it and discovered this kit though this was 12 months ago i didn't get this until last week anyway here is where i'm up to as of today

here's some more pics and as you can see the rear wing has been painted dayglo, the colour is actually quite similar to the 07/08 HRT cars

Very nice job there Kashmir. I've never really been into kits due to the amount of time taken and the lack of patience and skill I have, but they still look mighty fine and just as good as the Autoart or whatever equivalent. Keep up the good work mate.
        Cheers,
        Thomas

Great thread idea Kashmir! I am currently in the process of putting together Piquet's 1/20 Tamiya Brabham, a 1/35 Tamiya Sherman M4A1, a 1/24 Revell 1990 Chevrolet Lumina and a 1/43 Lotus Europa. Time is the thing you need for these because the Chevy, I kid you not I started 17 years ago! It is about 3/4 finished. The Brabham and Sherman are in similar phases and I have about 20 kits still waiting to see the light of day! I have done Andretti's JPS Lotus in 1/20 and the Schuppan, Holbert, Heywood Rothmans Porsche 956 and they look fantastic. Of all the kits I tend to stick with Tamiya as they seem to be a better finish and are more realistic......great job on the McLaren too by the way, it will look fantastic when it's finished.

thanks mate, and it sounds like you have got some good ones there yourself and i can't believe you have taken so long on the lumina oh well i guess patience is the key Lol, and soon i plan to build a Tamiya 1/12 Lotus 78 which IMO is one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever made and the first to start the Ground Effect but it will be a helluva lot of work though

The problem I have is I start one and can't wait for the next one so the Chevy always gets moved back a spot!

I reckon Mal will be a contributor here.....!

Thomas - kit builders do amazing things with their kits that make diecast (like AUTOart) look positively tame. Take a look through some specialist kit forums and take a look at what the high end professionals are doing. Photoetched parts, machining parts, full wiring etc. Just amazing. I take my hat off to people with those kills. I don't, which is why I collect diecast.....

This guy puts my 1:12 to shame, alot of parts are machined by him using a small lathe.
