  • Display Cabinets

I live in Perth and was wondering if any of you know where to source a good display cabinet for 1:18 & 1:43 size models.

I have around 100 or so models and climbing. I want the cabinet to be a piece of furniture perhaps with appropriate lighting. Any suggestions? I collect mainly 1:18 now rather than 1:43.

    Cheers................

Hi Timbo, If you go down to the bottom of the main thread page you can go through all previous thread and there you will find one on the subject you are inquring about. Try getting in contact with Perry who lives in Perth and specializes in making cabinets.

          Perry,
Your web site is looking great. The "Glass Display Stack" looks very nice.
          Keep up the good work.

There are three different cabinet/shopfitting places in Bayswater that do cabinets and you can get extra shelving and lights etc, but I cant remember their names. Just look for them in the phone books

                Timbo

There is a place on Welshpool Rd, Welshpool (between Albany Hwy & Leach Hwy) that sells second hand shop fittings. They often have unusual pieces that could be converted into display cabinets such as display units from jewellery stores and mobile phone companies. Some of them may need a bit of work but they are a lot cheaper than buying new.

                  Hi Jager..............

                  I have 2 cabinets now.........and already need 2 more

I bought the IKEA INGO and put NON lighting in both of them, looks great for around $210 each.

I will check out the shop you describe though as i would love a cabinet like the ones they use in the new Fremantle Motor Museum. I asked the shop assistant to find out where/who they bought them off. She rang me and gave me the firm's name ages ago. Seemingly they cost over a grand each!!

All glass and stainless steel, but they must be about a metre square and quite tall. The models look fantastic in them though!!

Very happy with my "el cheapo's" though....

                  Cheers,

                  TImbo.

It would have to be Perth, as I am not aware of any here in Bayswater, Victoria.

                          Thanks Grubby.

I've taken some more pics, but can't attach them as for some reason the files are too big, even though I have the camera set on the "small" picture size
